Voters list
: Yashpal Yadav, SDM Faridabad, on Friday directed for registration of new voters in the Badkal Assembly constituency in the district soon. He said the names of those who attained 18 years of age on January 1 must be entered in the voters list. Yadav is also the Electoral Returning Officer for the Badkal constituency. The DC office is said to have also directed the EROs concerned in the district to expedite the process to update the voter list in the Assembly segments. 

Rewari
Two held
: The police has arrested two miscreants, Vijay Raghav and Ravi Balmiki, who made a bid on the life of Vikrant Yadav, Excise and Taxation Officer at Narnaul. The police has also seized a pistol with which the miscreants had attempted to eliminate Vikrant. However, fortunately the pistol didn’t work. They were remanded to 14 days judicial custody.

Grievances
: Arshinder Singh Chawla, IG Hisar Range, has directed all DSPs and SHOs of the district to meet public to listen their grievances from 11 am to 1 pm daily. The IG also told them to tour at least six villages in a week to make personal contacts with people. He told the officers to reddress complaints coming from public in a time-bound manner.

Protest march
: Accompanied by office-bearers of different trade associations, a number of representatives of the Teachers Welfare Association of Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai on Friday took out a protest march here on Gohana road against the dictatorial attitude of the school’s principal and director and transfer of three teachers of the school. They also handed over a memorandum, addressed to the Governor of Haryana, of their demands in the office of the DC.

Bhiwani
One killed: A student was killed while another sustained serious injury when the bus in which they were travelling in met with an accident on Thursday. The seriously injured student has been admitted to the Civil Hospital, Bhiwani. According to a report, a Haryana Roadways bus was on its way from Bhiwani bus stand. Three students were standing at the footmats and were almost hanging in position. As the bus reached near Agarsein Chowk, another roadways bus passed with speed and crushed two students. — OC

Principal held

Sirsa: The CBI has arrested principal of KV-I, Air Force Station, here for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. It was alleged that Yogendra Kumar Shakiya, principal, had demanded bribe for clearing outstanding bills of the complainant. The CBI registered a case on receiving the complaint and laid a trap on the school premises. The accused was caught accepting the bribe from the complainant. — TNS

Road safety

Rohtak: The police authorities seem to be very busy in making the exercise of Road Safety Month a success. While several measures have been claimed to discipline the errant drivers, the department concerned was still to come out with steps to implement the rules in a proper manner. — OC

Dharna staged

Bhiwani: Members of the Brahmin community observed “Brahmin Aarakshan Diwas” and staged a dharna in front of the mini-secretariat on Saturday. The dharna was organised by the Brahmin Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti. They also submitted a memorandum to the Governor. Convenor RK Sharma said a large part of Brahmin section was deprived of government services and other facilities instead of other sections of the society. — OC

Killer tusker sedated

DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand Forest authorities have finally managed to sedate Chorpani killer tusker of Uttarakhand. Conservator of Forests, Bhagirathi circle, SM Joshi, who had been leading the operation against the killer tusker, informed that they had on Saturday successfully sedated the tusker at Herbal Garden in the Shivpuri range of Rishikesh. “We came across the tusker in herbal garden at around 1.50 pm, following which a tranquiliser dart was fired at the animal,” Joshi said. The tusker had killed five people in the Shivpuri forest range of the state in the past few months. This forced Uttarakhand Chief Wildlife Warden SS Sharma to direct for the shooting down of the tusker. Sharma assured that the state wildlife authorities would first make efforts to rehabilitate the tusker and would only shoot as a last resort. — TNS
