Actor prepares
Aarya Babbar talks about theatre, acting and life in general
Jasmine Singh

“I will have to cross the lanes, the potholes, lose my way and find it again, if I have to reach the highway. And then….I would jump into my Ferrari and drive at a ‘successful’ speed.” Before you mistake it as the new strategy coming from Formula One driver Lewis Hamiltons, this is a simple and a realistic take of an actor, who believes in finding his own path rather than treading on the one others have created.

In Chandigarh for Punjabi International Film Academy Awards actor Aarya Babbar talks about the most passionate thing in his life, acting, and theatre and how growing up Bollywood is like, not to miss the his growing fan base in Punjab.

Jatt James Bond

Punjabi cinema is getting better by the day and I am glad to be a part of it. I have got a great response for my film Yaar Anmulle. I am doing three more Punjabi films Jiney Mera Dil Luteya, Jatt James Bond and another untitled movie. I am enjoying working in Punjab, but this is not something that I have planned or making any conscious effort. The liking for Punjabi cinema probably comes naturally to me.

Getting bigger and better

I am amazed to see how good Punjabi movies are performing at the box office. I have worked both in Punjabi and Bollywood movies, and I must say regional cinema is no less. All that the Punjabi cinema needs to work on is on distribution of their films. If a Bollywood movie is made on a 55 crore budget, back in Punjab the entire flick gets wrapped up in much less. The budgets for Punjabi cinema are getting bigger and better however.

Like father like son

It is normal for people to expect me to perform like my father, which in a way is a nice thing. It just translates into the fact that I am expected to deliver good work. My father quiet liked my work in Yaar Anmulle. In fact very soon we are going to start working on a project together.

Yes, I have arrived

This is for sure that a successful actor is known by the number of hit movies he or she has given. This doesn’t mean that I should keep waiting for one hit movie to change my career forever. I have to go through the lanes to reach the highway. I am happy with the way my career is progressing.

Theatre…forever love

Amidst the work and shoots, I haven’t been able to give much time to theatre. My mother wanted me to write and direct a play, but I have not been able to create a space for it. My mother is a little upset with this. (He laughs)

Next in line

I am busy with a lot of Bollywood projects like Vikram Bhatt’s Dangerous Ishq and Vishal Bhardawaj’s Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola.

Up and about
What if New Year hullabaloo is over…there is lot more to look forward in life!
Manpriya Khurana

In this case, there’s a storm before the lull and it feels just as odd as it sounds. Alumni meets are over, Christmas week is gone, New Year’s been rung in, now what? What next? Worst things first, it ends with a Monday beginning. Hold on! So what if the party’s come to an end, the New Year’s just begun! And there’s no dearth of ways to go about it. We give you a hundred and one reasons as to why you shouldn’t yet hit the post party blues. Opines Paljeev Johal, fashion entrepreneur, “Dragging yourself back to work or college is obviously tough after hard core partying. But I guess the vacuum dies down after a few hours.” Now is the time to bring on those dozen New Year’s resolutions. She adds, “If you have a clear and practical set of New Year vows then you should be looking forward to starting the day. Wear something bright and nice, seek God’s blessings, wish everyone around the next day and you are ready to start the day.”

Begin on a happy note. Continue on a happy note and need we fill in the last blank that it would end on a happy note? Yet another pointer. Opines Shivraj Sekhon, LLM, student, “The seasons and celebrations come to an end but the memories remain. How putting a wallpaper of the recent good times spent with family and friends on your desktop, hand phone etc .” he adds, “Get headlong into the routine within a day and you are good to go.”

Kanika Batra, psychology research student, Panjab University, “Invariably, there’s this sense of emptiness closely accompanied post hard core revelry. Just as our body needs adjustment to normal, mind and psyche too need to be brought down to routine days and levels.” There might be some, wanting to be far from the madding crowd but when you are actually far from the madding crowd, some would need some dealing with it. Sukhmani Bedi, B Com student, gives her list of options, “This time, it’ll be different getting back altogether because it’s Saturday juxtaposed against Monday. Getting back after winter vacations and so many occasions in one go in a row is a tad difficult to adjust.”

Does her sorrows ring a bell with many? Perhaps her options would too. “Wait for a day and it would get better even before you know it.” Wait, and rest will fall in place.

Fast forward

Do we have dearth of things to look forward to? The father of all bonfires, Lohri is round the corner. Fortunately and unfortunately, one of the biggest reasons for shopping and sleeping, the Republic Day. Next month, the excuse for all lovers to come out of hibernation, the Valentine’s Day. And by the way, who says wedding season’s over? See, the New Year’s just begun!

What an idea…

The secret of business is to know something that nobody else knows.

Aristotle

What Aristotle once said has today become the basis of the several business empires churning huge profits. Perhaps Sahil Kohli must not have thought this his one initiative with rake in enough moolah for him to convert his firm into a full fledged company.

All of 19 years, Sahil Kohli, an electronics and communication student from Panjab Engineering College, and his team of six young enterprising friends have gotten together to innovate with photocopies and advertisements.

Talking about Xerocopy Infocom private limited, Sahil, also an ardent ISKCON follower, says, “It was just during a casual conversation that we realised how expensive the entire process of getting notes photocopied is.” After all the life of any student in any college does rest on the notes prepared by the seniors and passed on like a treasure. “It was then that the idea hit me. I contacted Krome and tied up with their marketing teams,” Pavas, Ahuja, the co-founder of the company from CGC, Landran. The concept revolves around printing the ad of the firms on the front page of the set of photocopies, while the real Xerox begins from the next leaf. The photocopies are sold at a nominal rate of 25 paise. “The ads are repeated after every eight photocopies and is also at the end of the Xerox stack,” adds Sahil.

The company started its operation from Panjab Engineering College (PEC), University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) and Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology(CCET). Currently active in 17 colleges and already going commercial, with two outlets in local markets, these technocrats are the exact persons who make you feel a bit of a laggard in life. Apart from some great marketing tools, the company also prints a unique identification number on each set of photocopies to track the increasing popularity, which helps give feedback to advertisers. “We also hold regular lucky draws and offer various schemes and discounts of our advertisers to the winners,” Pavas says.

The concept has clicked not only with the students of various universities but also all those who hear about it. “An alumni of PEC, with five years of experience and settled in USA came in contact and wants to be a part of the company,” Sahil informs between his gush of excitement. “He wants to take this concept to the States,” he adds.

Not only this, these group of youngsters belonging to several colleges in Chandigarh, are also active web developers. “We have developed over 60 websites in the last three months,” Mohit Chaudhary, from Chitkara University, says. Getting calls from seniors in the industry complete with a whole of experience willing to be a part of the firm has lent a sense of elation in these youth. “It’s good to know when people call and say that they have a 10 year experience and want to work for us,” Sahil laughs. Driven by social cause, the company plans to launch registers for Rs 10, using the same concept. The cover of the register will be an ad of Xerocopy and the back cover will have space for the advertisers.

“We are just hoping to tie up with the MNCs in and around Chandigarh. Procuring their numbers is our next project,” Pavas winks and exits leaving us in a tizzy of what we are.

Most played songs…

Kylie Minogue’s hit single Can’t Get You Out Of My Head topped the tune of the Noughties on Saturday. The song bagged the maximum votes in a poll of the most-played songs of the past decade.

The track had originally been turned down by both S Club 7 and Sophie Ellis-Bextor before Kylie used it.

Britney Spears’ Toxic came close second in the survey by PRS (Performing Right Society) For Music, the UK’s association of composers, songwriters and music publishers.

The lyrics for both the songs were penned by Cathy Dennis, who worked with Robert Davis on Can’t Get You Out Of My Head and Henrik Jonback, Pontus Winnberg and Christian Karlsson on Toxic.

Robbie Williams’ biggest solo hit, Angels, was named the third most popular tune.

All the top three songs had bagged an Ivor Novello Award for Most Popular Song for the year they were released.

Scottish band Wet Wet Wet were at number six with their version of the Troggs’ Love Is All Around.

The 1994 hit was the soundtrack to Four Weddings And A Funeral and spent 15 weeks at the top of the UK charts.

PRS, which collects royalties on behalf of songwriters and composers, searched into its records to work out which songs have been played and performed the most over the past 10 years.

Among them, the top five altogether have been played more than 875 million times over the decade.

The chart is based on airplay and live covers of the songs. “These are all classic songs of the Noughties and Can’t Get You Out Of My Head is one of Kylie’s all-time greatest hits,” Fletcher said.

“The writing talent behind this top five includes legends such as Cathy Dennis and Guy Chambers, and underpins the importance of good songwriting in producing a hit,” he added. Most played songs of the Noughties: 1. Kylie Minogue - Can’t Get You Out of My Head (2001) 2. Britney Spears - Toxic (2004) 3. Robbie Williams - Angels (1997) 4. Jamelia - Superstar (2003) 5. Stress Buster
Time to change
Renee Singh

This is the New Year! Time for Resolutions! Time to bring about a change in our lives if we so desire. Goodbye to the stresses of the past year and venturing into a whole new era.

Start afresh

Leave the stresses of the past years behind you and start the year with a fresh note

Carrying any burdens from the past weigh you down. Why not lift yourself into a whole new world of love, joy and peace and see your burdens just fly away.

Over the years I feel we as humans allow stress to take over our lives in small miniscule ways without realising it and we start living our lives in accordance with our stress situations. Funnily enough we even allow some of our stressors to become our comfort zones and we only learn to function at an optimum level when we are pressurised by those particular stressors.

Most people vacation during this time of the year and even though vacations are considered great stress busters the thought of getting back to work completely overwhelms them. Some people even suffer from ‘post holiday blues’.

Change your thinking

One of the best ways of reducing stress is to change your thinking

  • It is our thoughts that make us who we are
  • The key is to think differently and this will make us behave differently
  • Change your perspectives and give yourself positive messages
  • Self talk is very important. Try analysing your self and your life style
  • Give yourself permission to just be you
  • Give up making negative choices
  • Practice positive self messages
  • Tell yourself just what to do to feel good about life
  • How to handle ‘post holiday blues’
  • Get up five minutes earlier. Don’t start the day feeling frazzled or rushed
  • Do nothing that should make you tell a lie
  • Schedule a day in such a way that you have adequate time between two tasks
  • Exercise, it’s an instant cure for most kinds of stress
  • Act now, procrastination is stressful. Whatever is for tomorrow do it now
  • Today is the most important day of your life
  • Silence, inner silence for a few minutes is a great calming factor
  • Get enough sleep, this will relax you immediately
  • Stop worrying, make a consistent effort to let go of worries
  • Live one day at a time, take each event as it comes
  • Keep a journal, putting down your thoughts on paper always puts life in perspective
  • Stop and think, don’t allow people and events to bog you down

January is the perfect time to put all our new thoughts into action because as the year progresses so do we. Giving time to ourselves at the beginning of the year will keep our whole year in the correct perspective and also keep our stress levels minimalised.

Focus on

The most important people in your life

  • Have a routine health check up
  • Look into your eating habits
  • Check your financial goals for the year
  • Reduce credit card debts
  • Organise financial papers
  • Focus on saving for the future
  • Make time for reflection
  • Create a Wish List for yourself

Remember you are the creator of your life. You are what you make of yourself. You can make a conscious choice to lead a de-stressed life. It’s never too late to be who you want to be. Let this be the beginning of a new stress free You!

painting life: Shashi Thakur and her work
Painting life: Shashi Thakur and Below) her work

Painting her surroundings in myriad colours is what keeps Shashi Thakur going. A post graduate in painting, Shashi put her childhood hobby on hold for over a decade and half as she got busy raising family.

She began again (few years back) from Chandigarh itself and is raring to go. Changing places (she accompanies her husband on his postings) hasn’t been a hindrance but has only fuelled her imagination. “I worked on Radha Krishna theme before we moved to Maldives. It being a Muslim country, religious iconography wasn’t an option. So, I picked up sun and sea to paint,” says Shashi in Chandigarh on a personal visit on Saturday.

Shashi had the distinction of holding exhibition at National Art Gallery, Maldives. “I was one of the few women to hold an exhibition which really got appreciated. Specially, the fact that I worked on themes related to Maldives,” she says.

Not only the country’s natural beauty but also their culture, dances and social set up make their presence felt in Shashi’s frames. “In the few years that we spent in Maldives I saw so many women taking up to wearing burqa and not out of choice. Since it was not possible to say anything openly I have still dealt with it symbolically,” she says. Silhouette of burqa clad women next to fish in net, a motionless crane aspiring nirvana and fish in the swirl of ocean, her paintings capture many hues of the ocean vis-à-vis life .

Bright and vibrant colours are the mainstay of her paintings. “They reflect my optimistic attitude in life,” says Shashi all set to join her husband on his new posting in Mumbai already thinking of exploring the tinsel town on her canvas.

Cherishing memories: Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu

Wishing his fans a wonderful start to the new year, veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar says that the new beginning brings back old memories to him.

“I am wishing all of you a wonderful start to 2012 and pray that the year gives us pleasant times and many, many reasons to smile and feel on top of the world each day of the year,” Kumar wrote on his blog.

The actor, who turned 89 last month, also remembered his wife, Saira Banu’s mother on her birth anniversary.

“Personally, it is not just the beginning of a new year for me. It is replete with beautiful memories. It is Saira’s mother Naseem Banuji’s (Appaji) birthday and my thoughts turn to her and the way she made a difference to our lives.

“My thoughts turn right now to Appaji and the quiet, unobtrusive way she made sure I was living the life that even a king would have envied. She was the epitome of beauty, grace and refinement and it reflected in her speech and manners,” he said.

The actor also said how his mother-in-law would make the first day of the year special for everyone by giving some gorgeous surprises.

“Appaji always made January 1 special not for herself but for all of us by giving us a lovely day with some gorgeous surprises...” “Saira and I have accepted the will of God and learned to live without her but not a day passes without our thoughts recapturing her contribution to the strength of our marriage and love for each other. Appaji, we love you,” he added. — PTI

Debut time: Sunny Leone

Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone’s stint on Bigg Boss may have ended, but the actress is looking forward to making her big Bollywood debut with Mahesh Bhatt’s Jism 2.

Bhatt had entered the Bigg Boss house to meet Sunny and offer her a role in the sequel to the hit 2003 film, which is being made by his daughter Pooja Bhatt.

And after stepping out of the show, Sunny now wants to meet Bhatt and discuss her role.

“I am looking forward to meeting Mahesh Bhatt. I am really excited about my Bollywood debut. I am honoured to get an opportunity of working with him.

“At first I didn’t really know who he was but after knowing that he is such a respectable man outside I am happy to start a career here,” said Sunny.

“I want to know what he expects out of me as an actress and what will be my role,” she added.

Jism 2 is a sequel to the 2003 release which starred Bipasha Basu and John Abraham in the lead.

Born to a Punjabi family in Ontario, Sunny has appeared in various reality shows in the US. She got evicted from the Colors show Bigg Boss on Saturday, just a week before its finale.

Before entering the house the 30-year-old businesswoman and model had said she always wanted to return to her native country and work here. “I’ve always wanted to enter into Bollywood in India and Bigg Boss was the first professional offer which came my way and this was the best offer for me.” Sunny had also said she would love to work with show’s host Salman Khan. — PTI

Anne’s inspired by Hedy Lamarr
Catwoman role: Anne Hathaway
Catwoman role: Anne Hathaway

Actress Anne Hathaway says her performance as a Catwoman in the latest Batman movie is based on Hedy Lamarr, the glamorous 1940s film star who first inspired the character.

The 29-year-old is the latest one to take on the role of Batman’s feline nemesis, following in the footsteps of Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt and Michelle Pfeiffer, in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming The Dark Knight Rises, reported a website.

Hathaway says she went back to the character’s roots for her portrayal, basing her performance on late Hollywood legend Lamarr, who was cited as the inspiration for Catwoman by comic book artist Bob Kane.

“I know this sounds odd, but her breathing is extraordinary. She takes these long, deep, languid breaths and exhales slowly. There’s a shot of her in (1933 film) Ecstasy exhaling a cigarette and I took probably five breaths during her one exhale. So I started working on my breathing a lot,” Hathaway said.

The actress also said she isn’t fazed by stepping into such a famous role.

“What’s come before doesn’t limit or even affect this new version. It doesn’t affect me because each Catwoman - and this is true in the comics as well. — PTI

No PDA please!
Straight forward: Josh Duhamel
Straight forward: Josh Duhamel

Hollywood actor Josh Duhamel says he doesn’t like the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve - because he always has to get up onstage and kiss his wife Fergie in front of thousands.

The 39-year-old said he’s not a big fan of public display of affection but he has to kiss Fergie in front of fans as the New Year starts because she is usually performing somewhere with her band the Black Eyed Peas, reported a website.

“Since I’ve been with Fergs there’s always something to do and they’re doing some gig somewhere, starting at midnight, so I usually end up tagging along.

“She’s more out there than me; she was born to be a performer, so it’s a bit of a dilemma for me because she’s out onstage in front of all these people. I wanna give her a kiss but I don’t wanna do it in front of everyone. — PTI

Music, way to go!

The success of Tamil-English number Kolaveri Di even before its official launch has proved the power of online social networking platforms. Members of music group Shadow Band feel the online medium has given a window to new talent and can be a stepping stone to a career in Bollywood.

The two-member band comprises Rajan Adlakha, an architect, and Vineet Malhotra, a TV anchor. The former schoolmates came together at a reunion in 2009 and shared thoughts on music, following which they decided to try their hand at composing. The band was formed in February 2010 and their music has found online fans.

“As far as social networking sites are concerned, we would not be where we are today without them. Bollywood is very compact when it comes to giving importance or exposure to young talent because in today’s time, no one wants to take a chance,”said Malhotra.

“Everyone wants to follow a safe bet and make the most money out of it. This attitude has only led to talented musicians being shirked and left to fend for themselves through other means. But we are confident we will penetrate that space (Bollywood). It’s only a matter of time,” he added.

Of late, live bands and the concept of posting music online have caught the fancy of many newcomers to reach a global audience. So has it become any easier to carve a niche in the music industry?

“Not exactly. Live bands perform from time to time at various places, but the recognition is still few and far between. Internet helps your cause to a certain extent but the real action lies in the core of media promotion. Carving a niche is not really that easy, but if it was, why would anyone do it?” said Adlakha.

However, collaborating with TV actor Rajev Paul could prove to be stepping stone to tinsel town for the band.”

“Rajev and I went to the same gym in Mumbai while I was working as a TV presenter for Neo. He had written some poetry that was posted on a social website and I decided to adopt a few of them and turn them into songs. Rajev, being a TV actor, brings a new dimension into the music we offer. Before venturing into pop, we were all out electronica and this association helped us in realising that we could do more and this gets us closer to Bollywood,” said Malhotra.

If given a chance in Bollywood, the musicians “wish to create tunes that are fresher and newer in their feel”.

“Music has gone stale in Hindi cinema today. We hope to change that and bring in a new dimension to everything we compose,” added Adlakha.

About the growth of alternate music in India, Adlakha said: “Music is India is rich and historically relevant. It’s a part of our culture and upbringing, but experimentation and creative expression are still waiting their turn. It is prevalent to some extent but just like alternate cinema alternate music has to fight its battles,” he said.

All about love

Actress Katherine Heigl says she doesn’t believe in love at first sight and credits hormones for the attraction she felt towards her husband Josh Kelley.

The 33-year-old thinks strong feelings grow over time, but accepts that you can tell if you like someone as soon as you meet”, reported a website.

“I don’t believe in love at first sight. I think loves grows as you get to know the person. But definitely I believe in chemistry. You can be attracted to somebody and instantly feel something you’ve never felt before. I swear it’s a pheromones thing.

“There is something about Josh that is so uniquely attractive and sexy to me. And he wasn’t my usual type at all.

I went for moody and mysterious guys, usually actors. Josh is so different from any man I know,” Heigl said. — PTI

Country affair for Britney

Pop star Britney Spears is planning a traditional Southern-style wedding to fiance Jason Trawick.

The 30-year-old Criminal hitmaker, who announced her engagement to her former manager earlier this month, is said to be keen to shun a lavish Hollywood wedding and opt for a close, country gathering with her friends and family, reported a publication.

“She wants a traditional Southern-style wedding with comfort food, surrounded by her family, her two sons and all of her childhood friends, as opposed to a Hollywood wedding,” a source said.

Trawick surprised the singer, who has sons Sean Preston, six, and Jayden James, five, with ex-husband Kevin Federline, by throwing her a huge engagement party in Las Vegas the day after he asked her to marry him.

Trawick, who has been dating Spears for two years, asked for her hand from her father Jamie. Spears also married to childhood friend Jason Alexander for just 55 hours in 2004. — PTI

Mum's the word

Angelina Jolie has been working on a story inspired by her late mother but says she will never show the project to anybody.

The 36-year-old actress stepped behind the camera to make her directorial debut with In The Land Of Blood And Honey, a film she penned herself about a romance between a Serbian soldier and a Bosnian woman.

Now, Jolie says she has also written a tale about her beloved mum Marcheline Bertrand, who died in 2007, but refuses to make it public, reported a website.

“I’ve also written a story about my mother after she passed. They are things I will never show anybody but it is nice to spend time with people and characters in this private world,” she said.

The Hollywood star recently admitted that she has also put pen to paper for a script about Afghanistan, but maintained she lacks the “confidence” to put it into production. — PTI

Radcliffe’s learning

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has battled a secret alcohol problem but he says he is now relieved that he could successfully quit it.

The 22-year-old actor said he spent years downing booze in order to have a good time, but he’s since quit drinking and is now enjoying a calmer lifestyle because he can socialise with pals without worrying about the repercussions of his partying, reported a publication.

“(My life is) a lot better and less chaotic. 449 or so days ago, but who’s counting? Was my last drink. I just felt like I was chasing chaos and making my life difficult, all the time thinking I was having fun,” Radcliffe said.

“So it feels very nice to not be putting myself in danger, to be waking up in the mornings and not thinking, ‘Oh my god, who am I going to hear from? What did I do?’ It’s a life lived without dread and fear and it is lovely,” he added. Daniel is proud of himself now and wants others too learn as well. — PTI

Supporting family

Teen singer-actress Selena Gomez used her first wages from TV serial Wizards Of Waverly Place to pay her parents’ rent.

The 19-year-old’s family moved from her native Texas to Los Angeles to support her showbiz career, and when she landed her first starring role in the hit children’s TV show, Gomez handed her money to the family to pay its living expenses, reported a publication. “I think my first pay cheque went into living in Los Angeles because we had to move from Texas, so I think we just had to pay for it,” Gomez said. — PTI

Singing sensation to judging passion
Donning new hat: Himesh Reshammiya
Donning new hat: Himesh Reshammiya

The country’s leading music director, singer, actor, television producer, lyricist, film producer, script writer has teamed up with a Pakistani top singer and a pioneer of many superhit reality shows in the sensational new reality show Sur Kshetra on Sahara One Television. Noted singer, music director turned actor Himesh Reshammiya is back in the judge’s seat for the most awaited musical reality show Sur Kshetra with his counterpart singer from Pakistan, Atif Aslam.

Himesh will captain the Indian team of singers and Atif Aslam from the team of across the border. Himesh is riding high on this show and talks about what it feels to be back on Television.

What made you take up Sur Kshetra?

At heart, it is a Sahara One Television’s mega reality musical show which will have singing warriors from India and Pakistan. The format is very different from all other music talent shows that we have seen on Indian television. The show will bring alive the rivalry between the two neighbouring nations to the forefront albeit on the different battlefield.

Having judging and mentoring many successful signing competitions, what will Himesh bring to the Sur Kshetra?

What I strive to bring to Sur Kshetra is a personal touch and scale of the show. Everyone loves a personal experience and I know how nerve-wracking it feels to stand in the front of millions and perform. I really want to connect with the contestants in a big way. Besides the business signing we are trying to find a different voice. That is where I feel I come in.

Won’t it be tough judging the singers from two countries?

Not really! The singers from both countries will have to put up extraordinary and would be judged on the basis of their excellent performances.

You are singer, composer, actor, producer and lyricist and now on TV. Do you feel it is too many fingers in too many pies?

My first preference is to entertain the viewer-whether it is on television, in films or by singing. At the most I am okay with singing, music direction for film in myself. As an actor I am waiting for an action comedy titled Khiladi 786 Made in Punjab which star Akshay Kumar in the lead role.

What are your expectations from Sur Kshetra?

I have a lot of expectations. We will put 100 per cent for this show. It will be a complete hard work of the Sahara One TV, and its producer, director of the show Gajendra Singh famous for his many singing reality shows.

The year ahead

If your birthday is January 2...

Today is the day to plant those New Year’s resolution seeds. This New Year is the sign of structure, time and commitment – and will give the perfect opportunity to flourish. In March, you’ll feel indifferent about an opportunity which comes your way but in fact this could be worth exploring. Your beloved will accuse you of isolating yourself and this is making it difficult for your partner to be close to you.

In this particular moment, try not to waste energy in fighting but wait without forcing. If you learn how to adapt yourself to the situation in hand, by coming to an agreement you will obtain great well-being and assured success. Take it easy this January— you may be tempted to make a rash decision, but deep down you know that holding steady is the best course to take.

Till June is a good time to strengthen your connections with colleagues and customers you don’t see very often, because your social energy makes it much easier to relate to their needs. This will be a positive, profitable April with a great deal of action. However, evaluate everything carefully. Those born after 1980 can try their hand at share terminal without giving away their inheritance. Even a small sum could lead to a considerable win. Spending does appear to escalate in June both from elective to expected.

Gift buying, transportation, food, medical and large appliances head the list with covering financial mistakes of members and education coming in next. A discussion may be necessary to schedule gatherings, family care taking responsibilities or solve a rather ‘over blown issue’ between members. Investments in new business will be the hallmark of 2012. You may set up financial plans in a new direction. You may be pleasantly surprised by some unexpected gains. You may have a new financial opportunity knocking on your door. Make the most of it in July. Good mental and physical health is in the offing.

Mood: Slightly ‘geared’ and a bit pushy at times. Compatible signs : Sagittarius, Aquarius. Lucky colours: Aqua, Dark Violet. Lucky days: Wednesday and Friday. Lucky numbers: 9, 11, 15, 32, 50. Lucky gem: Moon Stone. Lucky flower: Chameli, White Lotus.
