The city police today nabbed a murder accused from Panchkula, who had jumped parole and eloped with a girl. The police seized a .32 pistol and two live cartridges from the accused.

The police seized today around Rs 30 lakh from different parts of the city during a special drive against ferrying of unaccounted money. A team led by the SHO of the Division No 5 police station, Raj Kumar, seized Rs 9 lakh from Harbhajan Singh, a resident of Arniwal village, vehicle during a search operation near the Bharat Nagar Chowk.

Thieves made a futile bid to break open an automated teller machine (ATM) at the Brown road near the CMC area here last night. The incident came to light when residents spotted the damaged ATM and informed the police.

Due to nitrate poisoning in cows and buffaloes that show symptoms of difficult respiration, sub-normal temperature and muscular tremor, scientists of the Department of Animal Disease Research Centre, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University(GADVASU), here have given the university helpline number 0161-2414030 to get the suspected fodder checked for presence of nitrate before feeding.
