100 ENT patients examined: More than 100 ENT patients from all over the state were examined today at a one-day ENT camp organised by the local branch of Vivekananda Kendra, a spiritually oriented service mission headquartered at Kanaya
Kumari. PR Agnihotri, convener of the kendra, said the kendra had been holding such camps here every
month. He said Dr Sanjay Sachdeva, Director, ENT and Head and Neck Surgery, Max Group of Hospitals, examined the patients at the OPD at Gopal Bagh on the outskirts of the town.

Traffic Magistrate for 5 dists: Pawan Kumar Hazari, retired District Attorney, has been appointed Mobile Traffic Magistrate for Mandi Revenue Division consisting of five districts of
Mandi, Kullu, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Lauhal and Spiti. He was administered an oath of the post today by Sessions Judge,
Mandi, Virender Singh in the court complex. The new magistrate will undergo training for the next 14 days with the Chief Judicial Magistrate,
Mandi.

Complaint lodged: Luxmi of Bhagat Singh Colony, Raipur, has accused her husband Raghuvir Singh of beating her up for being from the Scheduled Caste. She has lodged a complaint
against him at the Raipur police station. They had got married against his mother’s wishes as the man is from the Thakur caste and the girl from the SC.

Farmers hold protest:
Agitated over the continuing “exploitation” by middlemen and political discrimination with regard to the development works done in the rural areas, farmers of the Bhabar area of Kumaon held a massive protest on the Mandi Parishad premises in Haldwani. The farmers are agitated over the fact that there has been no intervention from the authorities on the issue of their continuing “exploitation” by middlemen and commission agents. They have demanded the open auction of cash crops and have accused the employees of the Mandi Samiti of conniving with the middlemen in exploiting them. The agitators accused the commission agents of charging a cut of eight per cent on their income whereas they cannot charge beyond three per cent. The authorities have promised to resolve the issues within a week.Fire at godown of tent house:
A major fire broke out in the godown of a tent house in Halduchaur area of Haldwani. A large number of articles stored in the godown were destroyed. The villagers came to the rescue of the owner of the tent house and doused the fire. A tubewell in the near vicinity proved to be of great help. The losses incurred in the fire are being tabulated. Body of kidnapped man found:
The body of a resident of Rudrapur who had allegedly been kidnapped by six persons on Sunday was found in the Kalyani river. His wife Virmi Devi alleged that six persons had forcibly entered their house in Raja Colony and thrashed her husband. When they heard the neighbours approaching, they allegedly attacked the couple. While she was injured, they allegedly managed to abduct her husband. She has accused the six persons, including Chet Ram and Nandi Devi of Azad Nagar, of having murdered her husband.
