Govt forges consensus with allies on Lokpal

P ChidambaramThe UPA government today managed to forge a broad consensus on major issues with its allies on a reworked Lokpal Bill following a marathon meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Emerging from the meeting late tonight, Home Minister P Chidambaram said they had arrived at a broad agreement on the contours of the Lokpal Bill.

Seeking to allay fears about its first overseas facility in Seychelles, China today said "other countries" should not worry about its naval ships frequenting a port in the strategically-located Indian Ocean island nation for "supply and stopover".

Candidate with -10 marks short-listed for PCS (judicial) mains!

Incredible, but true. In Punjab, you can make it to the mains of Punjab Civil Service (Judicial Branch) Examinations with negative marks. A candidate scoring as less as “-10” marks in the preliminary examinations has actually been short-listed for the mains of “PCS (Judicial Branch) Examination-2011”, scheduled to be held for three days from January 20, 2012. The results of the preliminary examinations were published in leading newspapers and are still available on the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) website.
