Undertrial escapes, two cops booked
Tarn Taran, October 27
An undertrial Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Padhri Kalan village, escaped from Chabal police station, last night. The undertrial was arrested later on by the police.
Head constable Devinder Kumar, night munshi and home guard Parwinder Singh who was on duty along with the undertrial Sarabjit Singh Sabba have been booked under Section 223, 224, 120 B of the IPC by the Chabal police. SSP Manminder Singh said the policemen have been booked for negligence and suspended from duty.
Thieves strike at garments shop
Pathankot, October 27
Thieves broke into a garments showroom near Arya Senior Secondary School on Dalhousie road here on Tuesday night and decamped with garments worth Rs 5 lakh. Ved Bhushan Mahajan, owner of the showroom, said he came to know about the theft in the morning. Thieves broke the locks with the help of iron blades.
