Health dept destroys 10 quintal ‘petha’

Officials of the District Health Department destroy substanded ‘petha’ seized from a factory in Ludhiana After receiving the report of “petha”, the samples of which were sent on October 12, the district health department today finally destroyed 10 quintals of it. These were seized from the Bhure Lal’s factory on the Tajpur Road.

Relish sweets, but with caution

With only three days left for Diwali, the sale of sweets has started picking up in the city. Though people want to sweeten their taste buds, the sale of adulterated sweets by a few sweet makers have compelled them to think twice. Stomach absorbs all. But nervous system and gastrointestinal tract gets affected as well. In fact, the whole body gets affected in the long run. Pupils’ vow: Clean, green Diwali 
Ludhiana, October 22
While their fathers immune to firearms, but Vishal Chauhan, wife of Police Commissioner Dr SS Chauhan, helps a student prepare a poster for a smoke-free Diwali in Ludhiana the children of these men in Khaki are not in favour of bursting firecrackers this Diwali. The children of policemen, who study in the Police DAV Public School, were seen campaigning for a smoke-free and noiseless Diwali. They also campaigned for cracker-free Diwali and spread awareness about the hazard of air pollution caused due to the bursting of crackers, which spells doom for children suffering from asthma and bronchitis.

An inmate of Central Jail located on the Tajpur Road died under mysterious circumstances in the wee hours today.

Youth caught posing as journalist
Ludhiana, October 22
A youth who was arrested for a traffic violation turned out to be fake journalist today. The incident took place this morning when the youth, Rishu Dawer, who was riding a motorcycle, was caught jumping the red light. Instead of admitting his mistake, the violator tried to wriggle out of the tight spot by claiming that he was a correspondent with a vernacular daily.

Gang of car thieves busted; 2 held
Ludhiana, October 21
With the arrest of two persons, including a woman, the city police claims to have busted a gang of thieves who had created panic in the area with their repeated strikes.
