Guv: Bridging gap between rich, poor challenge for bureaucrats
Dehradun, October 14 “This gap can only be bridged when this situation is seen from the human angle and not from the angle of CAG reports and the Reserve Bank of India,” said the Governor. “There is a lot of talk when we hear about the GDP growth rate and the industrial output. However, as I ask repeatedly, what is the objective of all this development process if a large section of the people does not benefit from it?” said the Governor while addressing IAS officers who have completed an eight-week mid-career training programme at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie. In her valedictory address to the participants today, the Governor said bridging the gap between the rich and the poor in the country was a challenge for bureaucrats. “In this context, I would like to say that the gap between policy formulation and implementation is a challenge all of you must be aware of. There are so many pressures of caste, class, religion and language that create roadblocks and challenges for bureaucrats,” she said while addressing 102 officers of the batches of 1991 to 1996 and four officers of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service. She called upon officers to ensure that they should pay attention to those who have been left out of the development process. — TNS |
