Acting MC Commissioner’s transfer orders withdrawn

The transfer orders of officiating MC Commissioner Malwinder Singh Jaggi have been cancelled and he has been asked to continue his job in the same capacity. The orders were sent through fax by the Chief Secretary at the MC Commissioner’s office this evening.

Former DFSC fined Rs 10,000 for delay in information

The State Information Commission (SIC) has slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on former District Food and Civil Supplies Controller (DFSC) of Ludhiana Rakesh Bhaskar, who is presently posted in Hoshiarpur, for delaying information under the Right to Information Act.
Clear encroachments, LIT shoots off memo to MC

After removing a few kiosks, structures and unauthorised occupants along its storage site on the Pakhowal road here, the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) has now asked the Municipal Corporation (MC) to clear the area of a hotel site and green belt till Sidhwan Canal where jhuggi dwellers had encroached on part of the road to carry out commercial activity.

Two chemist shops raided, drugs seized

Jobless vets polish shoes
Ludhiana, October 4
On the fourth day of their chain hunger strike, jobless veterinary doctors polished shoes outside the veterinary clinic gate on GADVASU campus. Maninder Singh and Ranbir Singh observed a fast. Around 60 to 80 unemployed veterinary doctors polished shoes of farmers, pet owners and pedestrians inside and outside the GADVASU hospital.
