Kareena Kapoor
all that glitters: Kareena Kapoor

Dressed in a firozi blue kameez, orange Patiala salwar, pink and blue dupatta, wrist loaded with bangles, golden earrings and golden platform heels, Kareena Kapoor definitely looked as beautiful as always, when she came calling to Chandigarh to promote Bodyguard.

Talking about the movie, Bodyguard, she smiles, "It has an amazing storyline, after all it is a love story. Now excitement has been replaced by nervousness as it is the final countdown." She adds, "I play a character more like the real me, named 'Divya', a fun loving, vivacious yet mischievous girl who keeps troubling Salman, who is her bodyguard. The story is all about how Divya's hatred for her bodyguard transforms into love."

Kareena shares, "I share an awesome on-screen chemistry with Salman in the movie and I hope that the occasions of Eid and Ganesh Chaturthi prove lucky for us."

The responsibility to promote the film well has increased manifold since Salman is not touring along, "Salman and me went together for the promotion in Mumbai, Ahemdabad and Jaipur. As Salman is not feeling well, so I've taken the charge." She adds, "So what if Salman is not with me, health is more important and I pray that he is fine soon, I have his bodyguard Shera accompanying me for the promotions."

We have seen Kareena playing different roles, something she is proud of doing, "I've always experimented with my roles and will continue doing that."

For all the girls who are envious of Salman being Kareena's bodyguard in the movie Kareena proudly shares, "This bodyguard is extremely hot and dashing. It's not like earlier films based on the same concept. It is a pure, intense love story, spiced up with action and comedy." The second half as told by the vivacious star is going to make everybody cry.

No more being a size zero Bebo stresses on the fact, "My fans love me when I'm voluptuous. I want to be healthy and fit but not size zero again." She adds, "People, let me eat!"

As for her designs in the movie, Kareena tells that it is yet again by her favourite Manish Malhotra. She says, "My outfits are different from those of Geet of Jab we Met. In Bodyguard, my outfits are straight from the markets of Patiala but the unique thing about them is the different combinations like blues and greens, bright striking colours."

The actor is a strong supporter of Anna Hazare and takes the opportunity to express her support for the social activist, "I'm very happy that Anna Hazare ji has ended his fast and that Parliament will take a step for the good now."

Having acted with all the top actors and the upcoming movies with Salman, Shahrukh, Imran and Saif she says, "I feel that I'm blessed and this is an exciting phase for me and I've given my best to each of the roles."

This is not her first visit to Chandigarh. She has come here a lot many times. For Jab We Met, we came to Nabha and Bodyguard has also been shot in Patiala," smiles Kareena. She adds, "My fans love to see me in a Punjabi avatar."

The glam girl does not take much time to get ready and for this she says, "I can't take just five minutes to get ready for the shots but yes, I don't waste much time in front of the mirror."

Reasons for which she signed Bodyguard were the script, producers and obviously Salman. A choice between fame and glamour, Kareena says, "For sure, being glamorous because fame does not last forever." She adds, "I hope I'm glamorous till I'm sixty."

For sister Lolo, Bebo says, "She looks stunning even after her kid." Her favourite holiday spot is Switzerland but she has not time to take a break. Her fans have already started looking forward to her next release with beau Saif Ali Khan in Agent Vinod.

Wedding wows
Ashima Sehajpal

As of now, it doesn't bog her down to think that her Bollywood career is almost done. After all these months of marriage, Isha Koppikar is still busy with her new life. In fact the actor, who was in the city to walk the ramp for Raakesh Agarvwal at Blenders Pride fashion show in Chandigarh, feels that life hasn't been this good ever before. For actors who fear their career getting over after tying the knot, she is happy to play the role model. "Marrying the right person guarantees you security that's always amiss in the industry like Bollywood, where you face cut-throat competition, bear with the failures at box-office, hunt for substantial roles. Marriage makes everything else take a backseat." But at the same time, she says that marriage did not bind her. It promises freedom, "Since you know you are secure, you can take any risk with your career. The reason I signed Shabri, an experimental project in which I played the role of a gangster."

Besides career, another good thing that she feels happened post marrying Timmy Narang, a Punjabi businessman and restaurateur, is Punjabi cuisine. She might be a South Indian but the actor proudly claims to be a Punjabi by heart. "Butter chicken, rajmah rice, sarson ka saag, bring on any Punjabi dish and I am game for it." Calorie count is never paid attention to while indulging in the delicacies. "But fitness is important. So, instead of compromising on the diet, I workout hard in the gym. Even my husband is a fitness freak, which helps me as well." No wonder, she played the perfect show stopper for Raakesh.

About her experience on the ramp, she says, "I felt on top of the world. As I stopped the show, I felt that was my moment of glory, with all eyes on me. It's flattering to be a show-stopper, I won't mind doing a repeat for more shows and more designers." A huge round of applause after the show explains her experience better.

Style meets substance
Wendell Rodricks talks about his creativity, a result of his solitude
Ashima Sehajpal

In times when presence on Page 3 qualifies one's celebrity status, when socialising in high-profile bashes is mandatory, when opening a store on a high-end fashion street decides your status and when the friend list has to boast of A-listers; celebrated designer Wendell Rodricks is more than happy to be out of the race. And he still emerges as a winner, for when his contemporaries are busy practicing the social norms; he is working on new collections and more importantly, contributing towards social causes.

Based in a quite village, Colvale in Goa, it's from here that Wendell supplies his creations around the world. "Solitude gives me ideas. Isolation helps me research better. I would rather be making one collection after the other than appear on Page 3," says the designer, in Chandigarh to showcase his bright ensemble, Sorbet Splash. To further isolate himself from the world around, he doesn't even go through newspapers or watch TV. "If I don't do this, then the visual bombardment would influence my work and creativity."

In tandem with his unique approach towards fashion, Wendell also took up the cause of redoing Kunbi tribe sarees, the only kind found in Goa 100 years back. It was during this project that his organic collection became a huge rage. "It all began on a small budget but the proportions it took later on even surprised me. The entire Kunbi collection was done in organic material, using natural dyes. The cloth used was anti-perspirant and provided protection against UV rays." As if this wasn't enough, work was then done for the betterment of the tribe. "We made them stop deforestation, provided them with gas cylinders to reduce the use wood to cook." As a result, their health improved and asthma cases dropped in the village." For his this outstanding contribution to the environment, he has been invited to Eco-fair at Nuremberg in Germany."

Coming to the collection he is showcasing in the city, Wendell has played with the contrast of bright colours. Hot pink is teamed up with blood red; peacock green is contrasted with turquoise blue. Besides his fashion show here, he has plans to visit a few landmarks in the city. "Fashion and architecture are interspersing. In both cases, it's easy to conceive ideas but difficult to render them a tangible shape. Why do you think Tom Ford did so well in the fashion industry? Because he was an architect as well and understood the dynamics of both fields." So, on the cards is visit to the Le Corbusier Center and Government Museum and Art Gallery. Sources of inspiration aplenty!

A fine blend

There is something about the old world designs that make fashion designers pick up motifs for the contemporary creations. Reynu Tandon fascinated by the motifs of Mughal era, picked them up for embroidery patterns. "Nothing looks better than the amalgamation of classic and contemporary patterns. Classic renders designs a feel of royalty, and, contemporary silhouettes makes a creation apt to be worn by a modern women." Not experimenting with the cuts much, her Anarkali suits are teamed up with a long jacket that has a Mughal motif on it.

The colour scheme of the ensemble is rich, beginning from off whites and pastels, then using pink and yellows and the final ones picked are red and blue. "I didn't want to limit colours in my collection. It gives people a lot of choice." She adds that even the world is opening to bright colours, inspired of course from India. "Louis Vuitton too is coming up with bags in magenta colour."

She has also used Victorian cuts for the collection. "It's like picking up the best from all that's available in the history." Her creations are as popular in Middle East as are in India. The show stopper of her show is Sayali Bhagat.

If you have a notion of Jassi's album having B21 touch, he says, "It was me singing in B21and now also it is the same, I think people relate to my voice a lot especially with the tracks Chandigarh karey ashique and Tere hoye savere darshan."

Singing for Jassi is both a passion and a profession. On his USP, he shares, "I have a unique voice and a style of my own which according to me no one can copy. I'm a self taught and a self made singer."

Jassi took lessons from Sarah Wrights in 2001 for his English vocals and techniques and when it comes to learning Hindi, Jassi smiles, "Learning Hindi is very tough and I would not like to even try learning it."

As for the projects in the pipeline, Jassi divulges, "I'm performing a song for the movie Speedy Singhs, which is based on a Punjabi hockey team back in Canada. The movie has stars like Russell Peters, Vinay Virmani, Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Camilla Belle, Gurpreet Guggi, Rob Lowe."

Jassi is retiring and this is going to be his last album, "I'm thirty three and not married; I've done a lot of hussle bussle, running here and there. I'm tired now and want to do the complete opposite." He adds, "I'm in a relationship and hopefully will get married till next year. Till then I want to open up a coffee shop."

As for acting in one of the Punjabi movies, Jassi shares, " I'm happy being a singer so I will never be an actor."

Preserving folk traditions…
Mona

It rather comes as a surprise to see a couple of young boys and girls sitting on a dari and singing Rangle Manwa in Raag Sarang in this very age of remixes. A little chiding from their professor and the group again breaks into a melody getting the lilt or lyrics right. "Ours is an attempt to make it as authentic as created by it’s creator Pandit Vishnu Digambar Pulaskar," says their teacher, Arvind Sharma soon after the class gets over.

Interestingly, his recent book is also an attempt to collect and document the original folk songs. Punjab Ka Lok Sangeet delves into the advent, themes, lyrics, singers and also has an impressive collection and notation of popular Punjabi folk songs. "Sadly, in the race to be different, we are fast losing originality," says Arvind. As for folk music, he says, "Lok sangeet main sirf sangeet rah gaya hai (folk is lost, it's only commercial music that sells today)."

Coming from a family rich in music traditions, Arvind remembers listening to the best of music from his grandfather. "Sadly, no more of that is true. It's the same tasteless music being played on every channel," rues Arvind.

The change in society has impacted the art significantly. "Elders who were the keeper of values are no more part of the family. With them the traditions are also being erased," says Arvind.

Folk has immense bearing. Even today a folk doli brings tears to many eyes. The heroes from Punjab have inspired generations of youth. But then the change in lifestyles has made the youth alien to their own culture. "No more can the youth connect with the tales of Sasi Punnu in which it was love sans the outer bearings. In an age when everyone wants to look like Aishwarya Rai or Ranbir Kapoor, and, is inundated with images, there is nothing left to imagination" says Arvind. Yet, the folk survives and thrives in the interiors of the land. "Nothing can compare the mood created by old women singing suhag, ghori or sithniyas in a wedding," says Arvind and it's these folk songs that are chronicled in his book.

Now, caffeine-free cuppa coffee!!

Pistachio nuts could provide a caffeine-free and healthy alternative to the popular hot coffee, say researchers.

The search for a caffeine-free coffee has often proven less than fruitful, with versions of the drink which lack not just caffeine's kick, but flavour. Now, a team at University of York claims to have found a possible solution in a type of pistachio nut. The researchers claim that carefully roasted, the fruit of the Pistacia terebinthus tree, which is much smaller than normal pistachios, could offer all the flavour of coffee, with none of the kick.

According to them, pistacia has the same chemical ‘signature’ as real, caffinated, coffee. — PTI

stress buster
Get stress free for free
Renee Singh

Oh My God! In this world of technology we almost forgot there's a world outside our computers, that's the 'natural world'. There is a whole different feel of life happening there.

We have all become so dependent on technology that we have willingly allowed our minds to forget that we have some mood enhancers for free.

In this time zone of 'money' and 'materialism' the significance of 'free' things is almost lost or gone. But what's wrong with it, why the heck can't we appreciate that most of the things that are good for us like 'love' and 'fresh air' come for free. Of course there's a different kind of price we pay for them, but then so what.

In fact, we create the maximum amount of stress trying to find ways and means of paying for our stress relieving measures. We could actually just enjoy relieving ourselves of our stress laden selves by resonating with nature.

You need nature - take a walk

City life in itself breeds stress. Just taking a walk in a park in the morning helps you to kick start the day in a calm way. Watching the trees swaying in the breeze, the butterflies flitting around you, little birds flying overhead, they all have this sweet blissful feeling. Ah! To be with nature, allow it to be your teacher as the famous poet has said.

Colour green

Green is a relaxing and soothing colour, it's a happy colour, gets your mood happy.

Green is your rescue colour, forests and parks are filled with green, it gives a great feeling.

Well for a technology freak I would suggest

Watch nature pictures on your computer. Alternatively, in the midst of all your number games give yourself five minutes of paradise, islands and beaches, forests, birds and bees, and watch your tiredness just roll away.

Enjoy nature

Not everyone knows how to get the maximum benefit from nature,

Even if you have a small garden in your home or let's say a few pots of gorgeous flowers get up in the morning and watch them for a while, see yourself relax.

Sense the soothing feel that overwhelms your entire being.

Magic land

Think of your local park as a magic garden, go for a stroll and leave all your troubles behind over there, step into the zone of freedom.

Once you have mastered the art of resonating with nature you are a new person.

Use this as your personal technique for stress management and feel the 'natural' high. It's an addiction you need to develop.

  • Walk nature
  • Breathe nature
  • Smell nature
  • Live nature

Your mind and body will thank you for it.

Most of the best things in our life come for free. Try busting stress the 'free way" you will love it.

trendsetter
Sensibly stylish
Mannat Mundi
trendy chic: Mannat Mundi

Every person has a sense of style in his own right. Yet there are only a few who'd attract the second glances, who have the power to make the camera go zoom on them. It could be tousled hair, it could be torn jeans. Our this week's face in the crowd, Mannat Mundi from School of Communication Studies, Panjab University, likes to keep it individualistic, when it comes to dressing.

Your sense of style is…

I don't follow trends blindly. I feel that this describes my sense of style. You should know your personality, body type, what suits you and dress accordingly.

Latest addition in the wardrobe…

A black jump suit from Allen Solly. It's halter neck and ends a little above the knees.

Brand freak or street smart?

I'm not rigid about brands. Yes, I do like to buy and wear them but if there's something I like in the flea market, I don't mind picking it up.

Choose one: Sporty, Glamorous or Chic

Depends on what time of the day it is and what place I'm at. In college I like the chic look and for evening parties, glam look works best.

Favourite style icon?

Sonam Kapoor. Give her a jump suit, give her a saree, she'll do justice to it. Moreover, she's a true trend setter.

Who's the worst dressed celebrity around?

Vidya Balan. The type of clothes she wears are not only outdated but also add a decade to her age. It's good that she sports Indian clothes but she doesn't know what to wear and how.

One fashion trend you don't understand…

Bell bottoms. Just don't get them.

Your take on accessories

I love watches. And yes, accessories can make or mar a look. For instance scarves, they add to any garment. I also like to do up my look with bangles especially with Indian wear.

One thing that boosts your confidence

Kohl-it looks great. I feel it really accentuates your eyes and finally the compliments that you get complete everything.

I would love to be dressed up by….

Manish Malhotra, his clothes are very classy and unique. On the international front, Valentino is great too. His gowns are amazing.

Fans watch Rock Star promo at Ranbir's house

Ranbir Kapoor
GREGARIOUS HOST: Ranbir Kapoor

It was indeed a moment to remember for a group of Ranbir Kapoor's female fans when they were not just invited by the star personally to his bungalow but were also allowed to watch the first trailer of his new film Rock Star along with him.

The girls are in a swoon. And so, we might add, is Ranbir who got to watch his Rock Star promo for the first time in the company of the aam junta.

Seeing their reaction, he now feels the excitement and the heat of the film's release.

Says a source: "Since he was in Kolkata shooting for Barfee, Ranbir had missed the first trailer of Rock Star. Director Imtiaz Ali sent the trailer over to Ranbir's bungalow.

"As Ranbir sat down to watch the trailer, he got to know that a bunch of girls who had been regularly standing outside Krishna Raj (Ranbir's home) for a glimpse of the star, even when he was in Kolkata, were at the gate again... Ranbir rushed out, hugged the stunned girl fans and invited them inside to watch the Rock Star trailer," the source said.

The girls, apparently, have sworn they won't watch any other film before Rock Star releases.

Interestingly, Ranbir's young fans, mostly of the fair sex, are known to stand outside his family bungalow at any given time. If he's home, Ranbir invites them inside. Sometimes his dad Rishi Kapoor goes out and speaks to them.

"But to invite the girl fans inside the bungalow to watch the Rock Star trailer… that was a bit too much. Trust Ranbir to surprise even himself all the time," says the source. — IANS

Rihanna's Luxury trip

Rihanna is said to have drunk her way through her relaxing no-expense-spared holiday to St Tropez, Cannes and Italy's Portofino and Sardinia.

The 23-year-old singer splashed out 200,000 pounds to hire a yacht for herself and her pals, drinking the boat dry by spending almost 3000 pounds a day on Champagne and meals as well as tipping waiters around 100 euros a time.

"The crew ordered the maximum amount of Laurent-Perrier Champagne they thought a few girls could down in a week, but they drank it all in just over a day," said a source.

"By midday on Monday they had sunk 12 bottles.

"On their nights out they ordered Moet and Chandon Champagne, Grey Goose vodka and Red Bull, each bill going into thousands," the source stated.

The Barbadian R and B recording artist is finally back after her relaxing holiday, and is expected at the MTV Music Video Awards in LA. — ANI

Switching tracks

Actress Zoe Saldana has stepped out to clarify reports that claim she suffered a mental breakdown after filming Avatar, insisting comments she made to a magazine have been misconstrued. The sexy star told Latina magazine that the promotion and success of the sci-fi epic took its toll on her physically and emotionally, admitting she burst into tears in a Paris hotel and couldn't control her sobbing.

"The year after Avatar was just emotionally overwhelming. I was travelling all over the world, waking up in different time zones. Your body gets exhausted, and by the end of the year I just collapsed," she had told the publication then.

"I was sitting in my hotel room, and I couldn't stop crying. I couldn't stay awake. I must have slept for an entire month. It took me the rest of the year, even as I was working and shooting (new film) to pick myself up. Thank God my family was there," she said.

But now she's backtracking a little, insisting she didn't suffer a breakdown and the tears were tears of joy.

"It was definitely misconstrued, the statement that I made... It was such a beautiful rollercoaster and we (Avatar cast and crew) had no idea we were gonna break records on so many levels and that this movie... was gonna touch so many hearts from all over the world," says Saldana.

"We started the whole world tour and you're expelling so much energy, so that by the time the awards season was over... my body just needed to relax. It was kind of like shutting down.

"It was such an emotional thing and I do know that everybody from, like, the director, the producer and the rest of the cast... went away with their families afterwards and they kinda hid for a while because you needed to refuel.

There was no nervous breakdown... It was just a beautiful journey that exhausted me," she added.

Johnny Depp plays a journalist

Johnny Depp is all set to join the cast of gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson's upcoming movie The Rum Diary.

The movie tells of the exploits that journalist Paul Kemp (Depp) had to face after moving to Puerto Rico in the 1950s to work for a San Juan newspaper.

His editor immediately informs him that he regrets hiring him, but he finds himself on an island full of sun, sea and unusually high proof rum.

Depp previously also played a character based on Hunter S Thompson after starring in Terry Gilliam's 1998 adaptation of Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas.

The Rum Diary was penned down in the 1960s and was first published in 1998.

Kabbalah keeps me positive: Ashton Kutcher

Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher believes his faith in Kabbalah sets him on a positive path for the week ahead.

The 33-year-old actor, who was introduced to the mystical faith - an off-shoot of Judaism - by wife Demi Moore six years ago, is fascinated by his studies into the religion and thinks attending weekly meetings help him in life.

"I find the study of Jewish mysticism to be really interesting and a completely different world I never even knew existed. Kabbalah is the root of most modern religions. The meetings really set you on a positive path for the rest of the week," Kutcher said.

The No Strings Attached star also relies on the guidance he finds in the book The Spiritual Rules of Engagement to maintain a happy married life.

"Marriage takes a lot of work so, as the book explains, if people start with a desire to work on their relations hip, and set that as the goal, they'll be a lot better off," he added.

Love is looking for ‘love’

Courtney Love is said to be "infatuated" with Salman Rushdie after striking a blossoming friendship with him. The 47-year-old American singer was pictured with the 64-year-old Indian-British novelist at a New York literary event, and were later seen "flirting heavily".

"She finds him intellectually thrilling. She regularly quotes classic literature and is a huge fan of Salman's work," said a source close to the singer. "She is infatuated with Salman. He truly is her ideal chap. "She is looking for love, while Salman's an incorrigible flirt and willing to see how their friendship develops," the source added. — ANI

Fatherhood is amazing: Nick Cannon

Actor Nick Cannon says that he loves being a father to twins Moroccan Scott and Monroe, but finds it hard being away from the babies and singer wife Mariah Carey during shoot.

"There is no 'worst' part at all. Everything is amazing about fatherhood. The best part is when they communicate with you and they recognise you. It's the best," said the 30-year-old.

Cannon admits that he hadn't realised how difficult he would find going out without the twins and his 41-year-old wife. "It's the toughest thing in the world - leaving my family in general, not just my children, but my wife. Knowing that she is there with them being mommy, I don't want to miss any of those moments!" he added. — IANS

Anurag is my biggest critic: Kalki

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap had introduced her to Bollywood as Chanda in Dev D and in the process fell in love with her and eventually married her. But Kalki Koechlin says that her husband is her biggest critic and is quite harsh at times.

"Anurag is my biggest critic. He gives me his feedback," Kalki, who has done three films with her husband says.

"In fact, just recently, I finished writing a script and I showed it to him. He didn't approve it outright. He told me that there are some brilliant things in it, but it is like different scenes and not a story coming together. So he has asked me to work on it. He is pretty harsh that way," added the 28-year-old.

Apart from Dev D, a modern adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's Devdas, Kalki worked in Kashyap's production Shaitan and will now be seen in his next directorial venture, That Girl In Yellow Boots, a film that she has scripted and in which she is playing the lead role.

“It's not so much that I don't want to work with Anurag again on an intense film. (But) I think it will be more exciting for me even as an actor to do something different with him. "I think he has his zone of gangster, emotional, violent and intense films and for me, I constantly want to reinvent what I am doing and not do the same kind of thing. So, I would like to do a different kind of film with him," she added, saying she is very happy after marrying.

"It's fantastic to have somebody you really love and care about. We are two very independent, fiercely stubborn people, so there are times when we don't talk to each other when we disagree on something. It's really good to have somebody who understands you. — IANS

Rumours about actors is a part and parcel of their lives but there are some which leave the actors stunned or in splits. We find out about the most shocking and funniest rumour that they have come across.

Rucha Habnis

tantrum queen?: Rucha Habnis

What is the most shocking or funniest rumour that you have heard about yourself?

The most recent rumour that I read about myself is that I have become the new tantrum queen on the sets of Saath Nibhaana Saathiya. This came out when I couldn't report on sets on time as it was raining heavily that day. The journalist wrote that everybody else came on time but I purposely came late and kept everyone waiting. The truth is that I had informed the production people that I am stuck in the traffic and they were kind enough to understand the problem.

What is the most shocking or funniest rumour that you have heard about yourself?

I keep reading these funny rumours about how I throw tantrums on the sets of all my shows-be it Jhalak Dikhla Jaa or Comedy Circus. Once someone wrote that I have suddenly decided to leave Comedy Circus and that the producers are fed up of me.

What was your reaction?

Honestly, I don't react to such rumours because I know the truth and such things don't affect me. My fans are very supportive and don't believe in rumours. It is because of them that I can confidently face such negative stories about myself.

During Remix, I used to read new rumours about myself in the newspapers almost everyday. One day, I read that I am dating Karan Wahi and the next day I read that I am living in with Raj Singh Arora.

What was your reaction?

I found these rumours very funny because both of them had steady girlfriends. The three of us had a good laugh over these rumours. I find most of the rumours about me very funny, I don't get shocked easily anymore.

What is the most shocking or funniest rumour that you have heard about yourself?

I have signed some Bollywood films which I am working on but I am not allowed to talk about them yet. Recently, I read a rumour that I am going to do an item number in a Bhojpuri film.

What was your reaction?

I was rolling on the floor laughing after reading that piece of news. Why would I do a Bhojpuri film and that too an item number?

What is the most shocking or funniest rumour that you have heard about yourself?

There was this shocking rumour about me on the sets of Geet-Hui Sabse Parayi but all of us laugh at it now. Once all actors got a call to report at 7 am but I was called at 10 am. Normally, all actors greet me when I report on the set but that day everyone ignored me. Later, all of them locked themselves in a room and I could hear them joking and laughing inside. Later, I asked the actress who plays Lacchi why everyone was ignoring me. I was shocked to know that they felt I had a setting with the production house and so I can come late. Afterwards, I found out that they were playing a prank on me.

What was your reaction?

I was shocked and disgusted when I heard that rumour. Thankfully, it turned out to be a prank.

What is the most shocking or funniest rumour that you have heard about yourself?

There are many rumours that I have heard about myself but the most shocking one is that I am dating Vivian. People claimed that I am a 30-year-old aunty when the truth is that I am just two years older to Vivian. Then there was some person who put up pictures of a bridal photoshoot that I had done with some guy and then claimed that I am married to him.

What was your reaction?

At first, I was shocked but later laughed it off. But my parents were upset by these rumours. Vivian was very chilled out. In fact, he is the one who taught me not to be affected by rumours. All that matters to him is that he knows the truth and ignores the over working romour mills.

The year ahead

If your birthday is August 29...

Your birthday on the 29th means that you are swayed by suspicion. You are soft in nature, like the cool moon light glow. You show a rough exterior to others, like Moon shows its crater surface. If some one becomes hot and offensive against you, you are rattled. You try to compromise. But if some one is under you, you enslave him, terrorize, and extract work! The 29 reduces to 11, one of the master numbers which often produces much tension. This is the birthday of the dreamer rather than the doer. You do, however, work very well with people. Virgo likes: hygiene, order, detail, precision, wholesomeness, health foods and perfection. Virgo dislikes: uncertainty, health hazards, sloppy workers and anything deemed to be sordid.

Career: You'll be satisfied as you would have completed a difficult task at work and this will help your self-esteem and desire to work even harder.

Education: You might obtain remarkable success in exams or interviews.

Family: This will be a good time to beautify and remodel home and garden or perhaps purchase or sell real estate. Family problems are likely to interfere with other endeavors you and your partner wish to undertake. Organise your schedule, dear one, to insure plenty of time for rest and relaxation. Postpone decisions. Fun gatherings and improved attitudes make for a good year end.

Friendship: Friends may be a tad bit on the 'demanding side'. Health: You can keep yourself in top condition by eating a healthy diet and getting enough exercise. Also, think pleasant thoughts at the end of the day to make sure that your sleep is restful.

Love: Have a new makeover, change your hairstyle, pamper and treat yourself. Enjoy the pleasure of romance, love and possibly marriage. If already married, rekindle your marriage vows or go on a second honeymoon.

State of mind: Slightly weary at times. Compatible signs: Gemini, Libra. Lucky colors: Carrot red, Orange. Lucky days: Your lucky days will be Monday and Saturday. Lucky numbers: 4, 17, 22, 34, 60. Lucky flower: Christmas rose. Lucky gemstone: Olivine
