Ambala Cantt gets two parking lots
Ambala, August 21 Srow said the second parking lot was in the Rai Market area where it was spread over about 18,000 square feet and it had been developed at a cost of Rs 11 lakh. He said with the two parking lots becoming functional, the residents of Ambala could heave a sigh of relief as parking of vehicles had become troublesome in the busy markets of the town The narrow and congested streets in Ambala Cantt have been an irritant for the residents. The problem is at its worst in the main Sadar Bazar area, where there is no provision for parking. Haphazard parking makes it difficult for a person to cross the street, while at times it is impossible for a person to remove his vehicle after parking it. In the absence of stringent action being taken the shopkeepers and residents alike are making no effort to help improve the situation. It had been pointed out earlier that many shopkeepers had encroached upon the public land. While the district administration was making efforts to improve the situation, the residents did not seem to be cooperating. The problem had been compounded by the haphazard parking of vehicles. Talking to The Tribune Sameer Pal Srow said the administration was making all efforts to improve the situation. He had already directed the Municipal Corporation staff to get the roads in the main bazaars and around the bus stand cleared of all encroachers. |
