MC fails to rein in drivers

The municipal corporation has failed to rein in those hired to drive its garbage trucks, which appear to have gone on a killing spree on the city’s streets. Despite oft repeated claims that the civic body has taken stringent measures to keep a check on its drivers, another life was lost by a rashly driven garbage truck on Saturday.
When the parents’ world fell apart

Heartrending scenes were witnessed the house of Lokesh Mahengi, whose 18-year-old son, Akhilesh, was mowed down by a speeding garbage truck belonging to the municipal corporation near Samrala Chowk on Saturday.
Anger against MC spills on road

Dengue spreads its tentacles
Ludhiana, August 6
Dengue is spreading its tentacles this monsoon. At least 116 patients are reportedly suffering from dengue in the state. Out of 116 patients, three of them from different localities of the city have died. Officials of the District Health Department claim that these three died of dengue while those of the state health department are yet to confirm it.
PPCB chairman warns industrialists of action

Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) chairman Kahan Singh Pannu warned city industrialists, indulging in pollution. He categorically told them that he would not tolerate any political interference and those indulging in pollution of any kinds would have to face the action.
PPCB raids: Four traders flout norms

Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) officials today conducted raids on the premises of traders and shopkeepers selling plastic bags in Khanna town near here.
During the raids, out of the total five traders, four of them were found flouting the rules.
