As much was expected from the boys, some senior members of the Chandigarh Golf Club had also reached the venue. However, to their disappointment, the notice board read “DQ” in front of the names of the two Indian amateurs. “It was a shameful feeling,” said one of them.

According to reports, the Indian golfers overslept and when they finally woke up and reached the venue, it was too late... Team India had been disqualified on the opening day of the four-day event.
