Eight roundabouts to get high-mast lights
Patiala, June 16 According to senior civic functionaries, the high-mast lights will not only reduce accidents but also provide proper lighting to motorists during evening hours. The project will cost around Rs 10 lakh. Talking to the TNS, Patiala Mayor Ajitpal Singh Kohli said high-mast lights offered high level of illumination, easy maintenance and minimum ground-level obstruction. “Over the past few years, high-mast lighting has become a popular and an efficient way of lighting up big areas like airports, dockyards, industrial areas, shopping centres and car parks. “Hence, after deliberation with officials of the electrical wing of the civic body, it has been decided to install high-mast lights at busy roundabouts of the town,” he said. The roundabouts that have been selected for the installation of the lights include Rajpura bypass road, Rink Hall (Leela Bhawan), Thapar College, Tejbagh Colony, Raghubeer Nagar, Sanaur-Devigarh, Sirhindi Gate and Rajpura-Sirhind bypass. Kohli said once the project was completed, a survey of the town would be initiated to identify other roundabouts and points where high-mast lights could be installed. |
