City residents are reeling under oppressive heat wave conditions with the day temperature about to cross 43 degrees Celsius. And the worst hit are those who have to travel long distances due to one reason or another under the scorching sun. Schoolgoing children are also facing the same acute discomfort although some schools have begun closing earlier due to the ongoing examinations.

6 shortlisted for PAU VC’s post

The three-man committee tasked with selecting the next incumbent of the prestigious position of vice chancellor of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has reportedly received a list of 32 eligible candidates till May 5, of which about six considered "most suited" for the job have been "shortlisted". This has been done although the panel’s chairman, Punjab chief secretary SK Aggarwal, is abroad these days.

‘Thermal plants to be completed on time’
