Ambala, May 12 Verka has already revised retail prices of their products in this area with effect from May 11. Vita is facing tough competition with Verka and Reliance in this area. According to sources, Vita packed milk with full cream would now be available at Rs 34 per litre, standard milk would cost Rs 31 per litre, toned milk Rs 28 per litre and double toned milk Rs 25 per litre. The price rise comes as a result of a huge agitation launched by the dairy farmers, demanding a hike in procurement prices. The farmers pleaded that input costs had gone up. Jaspal Singh, CEO of Vita plant, said that due to hot weather conditions, there was acute shortage of milk at present as production capacity of milk in animals decreases in summers. He said the plant was getting 50,000-litre milk through cooperative milk societies and between 30,000 and 35,000-litre milk was procured from Kurukshetra district every day. |
