Tension prevailed at the LIG housing complex of the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority
(GLADA) on Dhandra Road in Dugri, Phase II, here all through the day as a mob of over 100, mostly comprising victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, unlawfully occupied 85 LIG flats that were already allotted to riot-affected families through a draw of lots conducted in October, 2010.

Illegal structures razed along railway track

Officials of the engineering wing of the Northern Railway today razed more than 125 cemented structures, extensions of houses and other encroachments along the 1-kilometre long Ludhiana-Dhuri line.
Accompanied by posse of the Railway Protection Force, the men and machines of
the Railways started the encroachment clearance drive at around 10.30 am from
the Millerganj area and proceeded towards Atam Park side along the railway
track.
