Punjab Medical Council: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday nominated Dr Ajay Bagga and Dr Vinod Sud as members of the Punjab Medical Council. With this the number of members of the council has gone up to six besides the president, Dr Manmohan Singh.Romila Dubey is PSERC chief: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday administered the oath of office and secrecy to Romila Dubey as chairperson of the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC). She has replaced Jai Singh Gill, whose term as the PSERC chairman expired on January 20.
Rs 196 cr for embankment project: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has approved a project of Rs 196 crore for the embankment of rivers at various critical points under the flood protection works in the state.A decision to this effect was taken by Badal at a high-level meeting of the Deputy Commissioners held at Punjab Bhawan on Thursday.Badal asked the Department of Irrigation, Punjab, to work out modalities to launch the project by March. He has also directed Chief Engineers of Canal and Drainage to complete the ongoing works of cleaning of canals and drains within a stipulated time frame.

Funds for Dasmesh schools: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal announced to create a corpus fund of Rs 1 crore each for the three Dashmesh schools at Talwandi Sabo in Bathinda, Badal in Muktsar and Kotela Sultan in Amritsar.Badal also announced a grant of Rs 35 lakh each for the three schools to improve the infrastructure and carry out other development works.

Wife, paramour held for man’s murder: Baljinder Kaur and her alleged paramour, Ranjit Singh, were arrested for the murder of Baljinder’s husband
,Gurmeet Singh, a resident of Ramgarh village.Gurmeet’s body was found from the tubewell shed in the fields in Ramgarh village last week.Baljinder admitted that Ranjit took the victim to the tubewell shed on the pretext of drinking and killed him with sharp-edged weapons. A local court remanded Ranjit in police custody and sent Baljinder to judicial remand.
