Four booked
: The police registered a case under Sections 307, 323, 324, 148 and 149 of the IPC against four persons - Narinder Kumar, Anju, Naresh Kumar and Tony of Makhupur village for allegedly attacking Shamsher Singh and his brother Harvinder Kumar of Baguwal village when they were returning home last evening. The case was registered on the basis of Harvinder’s statement. When they raised an alarm, the miscreants fled away.

Rewari
2 youths killed in accident:
Two youths were killed when the car they were travelling in was hit by another vehicle on the Rewari-Mahendragarh road, near Kharagwas village, 6 km from here. The deceased were identified as Inderjit Yadav (32) of Ramgarh Kheri village and Raj Kumar Yadav (30) of Bhagwanpur Nangal village, near Kosli. The duo worked as agents in a private insurance company here. The mishap occurred when they were on the way to their villages from Rewari.

Arrangements for Republic Day finalised
: Arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations were finalised at a high-level meeting of officers held here on Tuesday with Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Asgar Samoon in the chair. Samoon instructed the Srinagar Municipal Corporation to clear snow from the Bakshi Stadium ground so that it could be utilised for the march past and other programmes during the rehearsal and the function on January 26. He also asked the PDD to ensure uninterrupted power supply in and around the Bakshi Stadium.

Police-public meet in Pattan: A police-public meet was organised in the Pattan area of Baramulla district on Wednesday. During the turmoil last year, some sectarian clashes were reported in the area and to build an atmosphere of lasting peace and brotherhood the meet was organised, a police spokesman said. Police officers, who attended the meeting, included SP, Baramulla, M Haseeb Mughal, DSP, Headquarters, Bashir Ahmed, DSP, Operations, Reyaz Ahmed and SHO, Pattan, Manzoor Ahmed. The locals put forward their grievances about poor road condition, lack of drains, erratic power supply etc.

Naib Subedar found dead: Hawa Singh, a Naib Subedar of the Army’s 68 Bn. Engineer Regiment Camp, Budgam, was found unconscious in his room on Wednesday. He was shifted to the District Hospital, Budgam, where doctors declared him brought dead. Proceedings under Section 174 of CrPC have been initiated.
