Villager drowns: A villager, Mohan Lal, drowned in a pond in Bilga village on Saturday. His body was found floating in the pond. The police has handed over the body to the family members after the postmortem at the Civil Hospital. 

Shop burgled: An electronic shop was burgled at nearby Rurrka Khurad village on Saturday. The burglars decamped with goods worth Rs 1 lakh from Pahwa Electronics. The police has registered a case.

Road safety week: A district-level road safety week was organised at the Truck Union, Samrala, in which Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, Rahul Tiwari was the chief guest. In his address, the DC said the transport department with the help of police was organising such camps in the district to make people aware of traffic rules and this drive would continue till January 7. He said it was must to abide by the traffic rules to save precious lives.
