Winter carnival
: To bid adieu to the year 2010, the Radcliffe school organized a winter carnival in the community centre at Model Town, on Friday. Deputy Mayor Gurinder Pal Kaur Mangat was the chief guest. Principal SK Jena thanked the guests. 

Drugs seized: Drugs Inspector, Bathinda, Lakhwant Singh on Thursday inspected a medical shop in Gandhi Market here and seized medicines, which can be misused as intoxicants, worth Rs 43,694, from there. On Friday, he seized medicines worth Rs 68,242 from another shop there. According to Civil Surgeon, during inspection, the firms could not show the sale-purchase records of the drugs.

2 nabbed
: The Sadar police arrested Tara Singh of Banjerbag under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act and seized 504 intoxicant capsules from him. The Hajipur police arrested Rimpi Kumar of Barota, Kangra in Himachal Pradesh and has seized 15,000 ml illicit liquor from him. 

Man dies in mishap: The body of Kuldip Singh (35) of Mukhu Majara was found near Handowal on the Hoshiarpur-Chandigarh road. According to police sources, Kuldip Singh was working at a brick kiln. He left his house last morning and did not return last night. It is suspected that some vehicle hit him, resulting in his death.

5 girl cadets for R-Day parade:
Five cadets from 3 Pb Girls’ Battalion have brought laurels to the city by making it to the Republic Day parade.
Under officer Merry Gharu, under officer Deepali Bhardwaj, under officer Lovepreet, sergeant Karamjit Kaur and sergeant Milandeep Kaur were selected for the parade during the R-Day camps. Cadets Merry and Milandeep have already bagged the best cadet titles from among all directorates.

Mullanpur
Grant for village:
The civic body of Chachrari village, which falls under the Dakha constituency, has received a grant of Rs 20.60 lakh for various development works. Manpreet Singh Ayali, chairman of the Ludhiana zila parishad, has presented the cheque to SAD leaders of the village. The amount will be spent on construction and repair of the crematorium, the civil dispensary and the veterinary hospital.
