SGPC flays Pak Govt:
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Avtar Singh has criticised the Pakistan Government for preventing the holding of nagar kirtan at Nankana Sahib on the pretext of security concerns. Thousands of Sikhs, gathered from around the world to celebrate the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev in Pakistan’s town of Nankana Sahib, were barred from holding a nagar kirtan procession on November 21. He said the Pakistan Government’s step had hurt the religious sentiments of the community.

Science exhibition ends:
The two-day district-level science exhibition concluded on Tuesday on the premises of Guru Nanak Dev Senior Secondary School here. Over 300 students from various schools of the district participated in the exhibition.

Batala
Two arrested with narcotics:
The Batala police has arrested two persons and seized 210 gm of narcotic powder and 10 kg of poppy husk from their possession. SSP Gurdeep Singh identified the accused as Ravi Kumar of Thikriwal Saran and Ajit singh of Massania. A case under the NDPS Act had bdeen registered at Sekhwan police station in this regard.

Bike recovered: The police arrested Tejinder Pal Singh of Jodhe village under Beas police station at a naka at Qadian chungi here and recovered stolen Hero Honda motorcycle.

Khanna
Function:
Around 500 road safety clubs would be constituted in schools, said DGP (traffic) Chander Shekhor while addressing a gathering at a school function here. He said every year thousands of people lost their lives in road accidents. The situation could be improved by educating people about traffic rules, he added.

Hoshiarpur
Youth held on sodomy charge:
The Mahilpur police arrested Hardip Singh, son of Darshan Singh of Behra, under sections 377 and 506 of the IPC last evening. Accoridng to police sources, Lalji, son of Ram Murti of Nariala, alleged in his complaint that Hardip Singh had sodomised his 16-year-old son and threatened him not to tell the incident to anyone.

Student killed as truck hits bike: Class XI student Dharminder, son of Kulwinder of Taggar Khurd village, died on the spot when a truck coming from the opposite direction hit the motorcycle on which he, along with one of his friends, was going near Khanpur village this morning. His friend got minor injuries and was taken to nearby dispensary. He was discharged after first aid. The Mukerian police has registered a case in this connection against the truck driver.

Jammu
Pak national nabbed near LoC:
The security forces arrested a Pakistan national near the LoC in the Balakote forward area of Poonch district on Tuesday. Official sources said 19-year-old Sajjad Mohammed of Marda Sharda village in Kotli tehsil of occupied Kashmir was found roaming near the fence. He was immediately arrested by a patrol party of the 13 Dogra Regiment and the 76 Battalion of the BSF. They said the teenager had crossed the LoC early Tuesday morning. A sickle and a blanket were recovered from his possession, the sources added.

Srinagar
Police to hold de-addiction camp:
The Police Control Room, Srinagar, will organise a drug de-adiction camp at the National Rural Health Mission Centre at Dalgate next week. A team of doctors from the Police De-addiction Centre will conduct it, an official spokesman said. An out-reach clinic will also function on a daily basis at the NRHM Centre where free counselling, psycho-education, motivation enhancement and treatment would be provided, he said.

Udhampur
Sale of combat uniforms banned:
The district administration has imposed a ban on the sale, purchase, stitching and use of services uniforms by civilians. In an order passed by the District Magistrate, Baseer Ahmed Khan, the ban also covered the use of uniform’s pattern cloth by unauthorised persons as well as the use of Army-type painted vehicles by civilians throughout the jurisdiction of Udhampur district. The order shall have an immediate effect and shall remain in force for a period of two months.
