Trai wants 70 licences of 5 new firms cancelled
New Delhi, November 18
On the heels of the Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG) castigating report on 2G Spectrum allocaton, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today asked the telecom ministry to cancel nearly 70 licences of five new players, including Etisalat, Videocon and Uninor.

HC breather for Bigg Boss
Mumbai, November 18
The Bombay High Court today stayed the Information and Broadcasting Ministry's directive to TV channel Colors to reschedule its hit reality show 'Bigg Boss' beyond prime time, and issued a notice to the ministry. Viacom 18, which owns the channel, today moved the High Court, saying that there was "nothing objectionable" in the show hosted by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, and the ministry's order did not specify which episode or part of the episode "offends decency and good taste".

Additional relief of Rs. 71 crore for Bhopal victims
New Delhi , November 18
The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for the sanction of additional Rs 71.28 crore as ex-gratia payment for the Bhopal gas victims. In another decision the Union Cabinet also approved the setting up of an Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) to undertake impartial and objective assessment of the various public programmes.

Terror alert in Delhi, Mumbai
New Delhi, November 18
Acting on specific inputs by a foreign intelligence agency, the Union Home Ministry has sounded the highest possible alert for the cities of Mumbai and Delhi. Separately, the three armed forces are conducting an exercise “Defence of Gujarat coast”. More than 20 naval ships, IAF reconnaissance planes, Army amphibious assault units and the Coast Guard are part of the exercise.
