Abohar Girl crushed to death: Amandeep Kaur (18) of the Government Seed Farm Colony here was crushed to death near village Daulatpura on the Abohar-Sriganganagar road by an unidentified four-wheeler, sources said. As per the report lodged with the Khuyiansarwar police station, the victim was returning after plucking kinnow in an orchard located near village Diwankhera. The police is investigating the case. Campaign to save soil: ‘Save the Soil Campaign / Bhoomi Bachao Abhiyan’, that was launched by the IFFCO, global leaders in fertiliser production, has given highly encouraging results, claimed Surinder Kumar Jakhar chairman of the cooperative organisation. During an interview at his residence in village Panjkosi on Sunday, he said over the years, crop productivity had reached a plateau despite increase in nutrient usage. This is mainly due to the fact that there is an imbalance between nutrients addition versus removal, latter on the higher side, resulting in widespread multi-nutrient deficiency. This trend needs to be checked on priority basis for ensuring food security for a billion people on sustainable basis. Sriganganagar |
