200 donate blood: A blood donation camp was organised to observe the death anniversary of Lt Sardar Amrik Singh at Gujjar Bhavan, Sector 28-D, on Wednesday. Jyoti Arora, senior IAS officer, and special secretary, Haryana Transmission Corporation Limited, was the chief guest. Around 200 persons donated blood. A team of doctors from GMCH-32 conducted the camp.
Bereaved: Jagir Kaur, mother of Gurdeep Singh Pannu, former international hockey player, and Superintendent of Police, died yesterday after a prolonged illness.
She was 82. Her cremation at Patiala was largely attended.

Govt denial: A government’s spokesman has denied reports that two persons were crushed to death near Pirthala railway station by a goods train when a few agitators reportedly tried to stop the train during the Jat agitation on Monday. A spokesman said the news was false.

Man beaten to death: A 48-year-old resident of Gorakhpur (UP), who was working at a dhaba, was allegedly beaten to death by his landlord last evening at Baroie village. Kangra district police chief Atul Fulzele said deceased Raj Kumar stayed on rent at Jagdish Chand’s house. Chand was drunk when he asked Raj to hand himover his home’s key and started beating him up. The deceased received a head injury that led to his death.
