94 undergo non-scalpel vasectomy at camp
: As many as 94 non-scalpel vasectomy (NSV) operations were performed at a special NSV camp, organised at the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Goniana Mandi. District family welfare officer Dr Dharampal Singh Sekhon on Monday said these operations had been conducted by three surgeons. He said Rs 1,100 and a blanket each had been given as incentive to those who underwent operation. 

Release of arrears sought: The district unit of the Pensioners’ Front, Punjab, on Monday asked the state government to release arrears of 43 months of the revised pay-scales. It also demanded medical allowance as Rs 1,000 per month and free bus travel facility for pensioners. The Front also decided to move the Punjab and Haryana High Court for getting arrears of the increased gratuity, according to Gurcharan Singh, convener of the district unit of the Front.

Booked for threatening: Acting upon the complaint of Rajinder Kaur, a BMC councillor from Guru Ki Nagri locality, the Kotwali police booked three persons, including two women, for threatening her life and also for attempting to commit suicide. She alleged that her neighbour Meera and one Sukhmander Singh were stealing some bricks from the street on Sunday and when she stopped them, they threatened her of life. Meanwhile, their accomplice Bhupinder Kaur poured kerosene over her and threatened to set herself ablaze, without any provocation. Though Kotwali police booked all of them, they were at large till evening.

Golf: Rajesh, Amit share lead
:Rajesh Choudhary of Mhow and Amit Kumar of Phillaur share the lead after round one of the PGTI Feeder Tour event being played at the Ranjitgarh Golf Club in Phillaur. Choudhary and Kumar shot identical scores of two under 70 in the opening round on Monday.While Rajesh Choudhary’s first round included five birdies and three bogeys, local lad Amit Kumar’s opening round was punctuated by five birdies, a bogey and a double bogey.Maniram Sharma of Karnal and Pradeep Kumar of Pathankot are in joint third place at even par 72.Local amateur Viren M Singh Ghumman (six over 78) is placed 14th while Phillaur-based professional Swatantra Kumar (10 over 82) is in tied 24th.

Sangrur
Three killed in mishap
: Three persons were killed when the car they were travelling in collided with a truck at Kakuwaal on Sangrur-Delhi NH on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as two eunuchs, Mahant Divya (26) and Mahant Prem (30), both of Kaithal, and driver Amandeep Singh (22). The truck driver fled from the spot. A case has been registered.

e-dist project launched: The state on Monday launched the e-district pilot project in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Nawanshahr) and Kapurthala districts. A turnkey agreement with HCL Infosystems was signed today in the presence of Information Technology Minister Adesh Partap Singh Kairon, Principal Secretary (Information Technology) Sarvesh Kaushal, DCs of Kapurthala and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and other senior functionaries of the government and representatives of Wipro and HCL Infosystems. 

March by RTI, rights activists:A candle march was organised by RTI and human rights activists over the recent hit-and-run case near Sukhna Lake, at Sector 49 A this evening. Dalbir Singh, father of Harpreet, who was one of the two children killed in the accident involving a Honda Accord, along with residents of Kansal village took part in the march.
