Bathinda Release of arrears sought: The district unit of the Pensioners’ Front, Punjab, on Monday asked the state government to release arrears of 43 months of the revised pay-scales. It also demanded medical allowance as Rs 1,000 per month and free bus travel facility for pensioners. The Front also decided to move the Punjab and Haryana High Court for getting arrears of the increased gratuity, according to Gurcharan Singh, convener of the district unit of the Front. Booked for threatening: Acting upon the complaint of Rajinder Kaur, a BMC councillor from Guru Ki Nagri locality, the Kotwali police booked three persons, including two women, for threatening her life and also for attempting to commit suicide. She alleged that her neighbour Meera and one Sukhmander Singh were stealing some bricks from the street on Sunday and when she stopped them, they threatened her of life. Meanwhile, their accomplice Bhupinder Kaur poured kerosene over her and threatened to set herself ablaze, without any provocation. Though Kotwali police booked all of them, they were at large till evening.
