The nomination has been made by advocate Vijay Bansal, state president of the manch. Woman sets herself afire: Sunita, a resident of Bhainsa Tibba village, today tried to commit suicide by setting herself on fire. The woman has suffered more than 80 per cent burns and is undergoing treatment at the PGI, Chandigarh, where her condition is stated to be critical. According to information, following an altercation with her husband Adesh Kumar, Sunita set herself afire. Adesh was away at the time of the incident. Her neighbours rushed her to the Sector 6 general hospital from where she was referred to the
PGI.

2 CRPF jawans suspended: The CRPF has suspended two of its jawans after they were caught selling some Canteen Stores Department
(CSD) items to a businessman at Nehru Market here yesterday. The two CRPF jawans Satya Narayan Prakash and Jarnail Singh had been suspended and an inquiry ordered after they were caught selling CSD items to a businessman at Nehru Market, said a CRPF spokesperson.
Land mine defused:
Security forces defused a land mine from an agricultural field in Regal village of Samba district near
the international border
yesterday. Sources said some villagers had spotted the mine in a field and had informed the police, which in turn alerted the Army Engineering Unit.
They said Army men immediately rushed to the spot and defused the land mine at an isolated place.
Five injured in lightning: Five persons, including four members of a family and a girl, were injured after lightning struck the Pouni Chak area here yesterday.
The police said they received minor injuries and were discharged from Government Medical College and Hospital after treatment.
It further said the incident occurred in the wee hours when Tarsem Lal, his wife, Sunita
Devi, and two sons,
Tushar and Tanish, were at their house and
Anjali Devi, a resident
of the same area,
was going to a nearby school.
