Drug awareness rally
:The Adi Dharam Samaj (rural unit) will hold an anti-drug awareness rally on August 22.The rally will start from Naushehra village on the Majitha road and after passing through various villages, including Nangali, Gumtala and Nawi Abadi, and historic gates of the city it would conclude at the Valmiki Tirth road, said district president (rural) of the samaj Amrik Singh Gill.

University’s anthem out
: Punjabi University’s Vice-Chancellor Dr Jaspal Singh on Wednesday released a fresh version of the university’s anthem (dhuni)-“Vidya viochari tan parupkari” during a function organised at the Senate Hall here on Wednesday. Dr Gurnam Singh, head, department of Gurmat sangeet, has composed three different tracks, vocal as well as instrumental. The anthem is available online. Dr Jaspal Singh lauded the efforts of Gurnam Singh and other singers.

Talk show
: MM University, Mullana, had an enlightening session by Subhash Lakhotia, a noted tax guru, on Friday as a part of its “Meet the Management Guru” series. The title of the session was “How to become multimillionaire”. Lakhotia, who is the director of Lakhotia College of Taxation and Management and presently hosts a show, “Tax Guru” on CNBC Awaaz, while interacting with the management, faculty and students explained that it was important to study subtleties and nuances of the Income Tax Act(s), as it adds to the knowledge, helps in tax planning, saves income and also adds to the job profile. He also explained various legal ways of savings. He suggested that it is important for a person to know some factors for tax planning like age, gender, number of members in a family and the required amount of income.
