Dussehra Committee: List of office-bearers released:
Mohinder Bathla, newly-elected president of Dussehra Committee, has released the list of other office-bearers as follows: general secretaries, Rakesh Chhabra alias Titu and Ankur Garg, cashier, Suresh Pahuja and general manager, Umesh Phutela.

Amanpreet tops in PU :Amanpreet Singh Ahuja of the DAV College here has topped in the Panjab University in MA (Political Science) Amanpreet securing 625/800 marks, informed principal Dr BB Sharma. Also four students had got second/third positions in MA Hindi, Punjabi and BSc Biotech. All the students in BSc Biotech (III) had got first division. Hundred per cent results were achieved in BPEd, BCA, MA (Political Science), MSc (IT), MSc (Biotech) and MSc (I) Chemistry.

Bathinda boy excels in GMAT
: Aseem Bansal of Bathinda has qualified in the GMAT exam scoring 740 out of 800 marks. Aseem was a Aseem Bansal student of My Career Experts, Bathinda. His father SK Bansal said his dedicated efforts and hard work led to his success. Sony Goyal, director, My Career, and an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad, said Aseem can now pursue his dream of doing MBA from top institutes of the world like Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, ISB etc. Ealier this month, more than 25 students of this institute got admission in Punjabi University and GNDU, in MBA/MCA exams.

SAD gets an e-mail address:To redress the grievances of common masses in a speedy way, the Shiromani Akali Dal on Thursday created an email id (sadbathinda@gmail.com), which would be a simple and easy way for those who want to lodge complaints. Issuing a press brief, constituency in-charge of SAD, Sarup Chand Singla said all emails would be replied within 48 hours. “We hope it would show remarkable results in exposing the corrupt practices of bureaucrats also,” Singla said. 

Jail inmates observe Roza: Nagina Begum, a social activist, distributed commodities among Muslim jail inmates for observing ‘Roza’ in the Central Jail here on Wednesday. She also met the women jail inmates there and assured them that she would meet chairman of the World Human Rights Protection Council Ranjan Lakhanpal to help them in getting their problems resolved.

PAU Notes: Workshop:
: An annual research and extension specialists workshop for Rabi crop will be held on August 19 and 20 at Pal Auditorium, Punjab Agricultural University.  Dr MS Gill, director, extension education, said extension specialists from the state department of agriculture and PAU scientists would attend the workshop.

Hooda to lay stone of IIM
: Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda will lay the foundation stone of the eighth IIM of the country on September 3. The Rs 800-crore institute will come up at Garnavathi village, about 10 km from here. The classes of the first batch are presently going on in a hired building of Maharshi Dayanand University.
