Batala
ROB awaits inauguration:A railway over bridge on the Dera Baba Nanak road in the heart of the town has not been opened for traffic, though it was competed two months ago. The over bridge connects Batala and Dera Baba Nanak. All business activity on this road has come to standstill for want of connectivity. SDM Rahul Chabba today expressed ignorance as to when the bridge would be thrown open to traffic. The reason being attributed for the delay is that no dignitaries was available for inauguration.

Training programme for budding entrepreneurs :
The North India Technical Consultancy Organisation Limited
(NITCON), Chandigarh, started an entrepreneurship development programme on food processing at the district employment office complex here today. As many as 27 candidates from Bathinda district and adjoining areas were registered for six weeks’ training. Chief manager of the
NITCON, Bathinda, Vijay Arora, in his address, motivated the participants and entrepreneurs about self employment. He also inspired them to become job givers instead of job seekers.

Rs 20 lakh for water coolers at varsity: The University Grants Commission has issued Rs 20-lakh grant to Punjabi University,
Patiala, for putting up new water coolers outside the teaching blocks and renovation of lavatories.
Chief Engineer of the university Amarjit Singh Sandhu said tenders in that regard had already been published and the work would begin within 20 days. The university would finish the project at the earliest, he added.

Labourer dies of snakebite:Bihari migrant labourer Chottu Lal died due to snakebite in the fields in nearby Rurrki village this afternoon. The deceased was working in the fields when a snake suddenly bit him.
He was brought to the local Civil Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
