Today’s nationwide ‘bandh’ called by the BJP and other opposition parties resulted in few visitors at offices of several departments of the mini secretariat and the municipal corporation. There was no hustle bustle even in the court complex.

Malls, markets closed; banks remain open

While all the markets and malls wore a deserted look today, the bandh failed to affect factories and banks. Almost all business houses, factories and manufacturing units carried out their work.

What if cops were so inquisitive?
A mediaperson called up a policeman to inquire about a case wherein some bookies were held from the city. The police official, apparently unacquainted with the word "bookie", was so amused to hear it that he asked the caller thrice to "say the word again". Merely grasping the word was not enough. The inquisitive cop wanted to know its origin too. The child-like curiosity of the policeman forced one to ponder if the police officials got so investigative about their work, the world would definitely be a better place to live!
