Northern Railway eyes 20 pc rise in income

The Ambala division of Northern Railway is eyeing a 20 per cent jump in its total income to Rs 1,800 crore this fiscal by transporting food grain, following bumper output of wheat and expected good yield of rice from Punjab.
“We anticipate a 20 per cent jump in our total income in the current fiscal, which will mainly be coming from freight collection, for transporting food grain, including wheat and rice, from Punjab to other states,” GM Singh, senior divisional commercial manager, Northern Railway, Ambala division, said here on Thursday.
