Nakodar
Killed in accident
: An occupant of an Indica car, Surinder Kumar, was killed on the spot when the car collided with a truck while he was on his way to Nakodar on Saturday. The police has registered a case, impounded the truck and arrested its driver. 

Protest against PSEB: Hundreds of employees, farmers and villagers of 22 farmer and employee unions held demonstrations against the wrong and anti-people policies of the Punjab State Electricity Board at Nurpur village on Sunday.

Ex-gratia grants
: Punjab Technical Education Minister Swarana Ram distributed cheques amounting to Rs 18 lakhs as ex-gratia grants among nine riots victim families hereon Sunday. 

Phillaur
Goods worth Rs 34,000 stolen
: Goods worth Rs 34,000 were reportedly stolen from four shops at Jamshed village and Zandiala village on Saturday. A case has been registered. No arrests have been made so far.

Man run over  by train:Bawa Singh of Khaira village was run over by a train on Saturday nigh.A case has been registered. The body was sent for post-mortem.

Man commits suicide:A man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his residence in Cheema Kalan village. The deceased, Ashok Kumar, was being threatened by some youths of the same village. A case has been registered against the accused. No arrests have been made so for.

Wheat destroyed in fire:A fire broke out at a field in Paddi Jagir village near Phillaur. Wheat was reduced to ashes in the fire.A high tension wire, which was passing through the field, is said to be the cause of fire.The exact loss could not be ascertained.

Women attacked: Two women were attacked and wounded by some unidentified assailants in nearby Kadhiana village on Saturday. The injured women were admitted in the local Civil Hospital. A case has been registered. 

4 shops burgled: Four shops were found burgled in Jamshed and Zandiala villages on Saturday night. Burglars took away valuables worth lakhs of rupees, including Rs 34,000 in cash, from the shops. The police has registered a case. 

Run over by train: Bawa Singh of Khaira village was run over by a train near the village on Satuday night. The railway police has registered a case and sent the body to the local Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
