The drive to cleanse Sidhwan Canal undertaken by the department of irrigation, Punjab, recently with an incurred expense of Rs 2 crore stands defeated as the district administration has failed to implement the Punjab and Haryana High Court orders against dumping of any solid waste into the canal waters.

Untreated glaucoma can cause blindness

Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that cause progressive damage of the optic nerve at the point where it leaves the eye to carry visual information to the brain.
If left untreated, most types of glaucoma progress (without warming or obvious symptoms to the patient) towards gradual visual damage and may lead to blindness. Once incurred, visual damage is mostly irreversible, and this has led to glaucoma being described as the “salient blinding disease” or the “sneak thief of sight.”
