Condemned: The Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) on Monday condemned the killing of two Sikhs in Pakistan. At a meeting here, various leaders, while condemning the dastardly act, urged the Union government to take up the matter with the UN to ensure safety of the non-Muslims on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Appointed: Abhishek Dev has been given the charge of the Department of Adult Education, relieving Prerna Puri of the charge with immediate effect, a release issued here on Monday said.

Janjua case deferred:In connection with the contempt petition filed by the Punjab vigilance against suspended IAS official VK Janjua in the Mohali courts, Additional Session Judge SK Garg deferred the case till tomorrow. After hearing the matter for a brief period, the vigilance was asked to clarify certain issues. The case would be heard tomorrow.

Biomedical waste:The Haryana State Pollution Control Board has invited expression of interest from reputed service providers for collection, transportation and disposal of
biomedical waste in the state for 2010-11. Expression of interest would
be finalised by February 28. FATEHABAD
31 cases solved at lok adalat: As many as 31 out of 39 cases were settled in a lok adalat organised in Thedi village here on Sunday. The lok adalat was presided over by Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohinder Singh, who is also the secretary of the District Legal Services Authority. A free-of-cost legal camp was also organised in the village on the occasion. The judge apprised the villagers about the procedure to avail free-of-cost legal assistance. Lok adalats would be held daily till March 12 in the district courts, he said.

Man held with fake
currency: The police has arrested a person and
seized Rs 10,000 in fake currency notes from him. Stating this to
mediapersons here today, district police chief Sultan Singh said
Ishwar Singh, a resident of Kukkar Kanda in Kaithal district, who
worked at a liquor shop at Asmanpur village in this district, lodged a
complaint saying that Narender Singh, a resident of Galedwa village,
came to the liquor shop and demanded a bottle of beer. He gave a Rs
1,000 note, but when he checked it, he found that it was fake.

Cop commits suicide: Satish Kumar Yadav (26), a constable with the Signal Corps of the Army, reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in Tankri village, near Bawal, on Saturday night. The deceased, who had gone to attending a training camp of the Army in Ranchi, had come to the village on February 15 on leave. The Bawal police, which held inquest proceedings, has treated it as a case of suicidal death.Open darbar held: Additional Deputy Commissioner A Mona Sriniwas presided over an open darbar held in the SDM’s office complex in Kosli on Monday. While senior officials of the water supply and engineering, revenue, land acquisition, development and panchayat, electricity, food and supplies and several other departments attended it, residents of various villages put up as many as 220 complaints in the darbar for due consideration. The ADC listened to the complaints and directed the officials concerned for their speedy
redressal. 2 held for abduction: The police has arrested Randhir and
Sushil, alleged abductors of a teenaged girl, from Sarai Kale Khan bus stand in Delhi. Simultaneously, the police also recovered the girl, who was allegedly abducted by Randhir of Gangaicha Jat village and Sushil of Bilkha village on February 7. The duo was on Monday produced in the court of JMIC Saurabh
Gosain, who remanded them in judicial custody. The medical examination of the girl conducted in the Civil Hospital here has confirmed sexual assault. Sources said the girl was fist taken to
Pune, where she was allegedly raped by the duo.
