Complete bandh observed
: Rajasthan agriculture minister Gurmeet Singh Kunnar and two former ministers Kundan Lal Miglani and Surinderpal Singh rushed to Padampur in Sriganganagar district as the town observed a complete bandh on Friday to express resentment over the killing of a security guard during the looting of a poppy husk vend salesman on Thursday night

Annual prize distribution
: The Dev Samaj College for women organised its annual prize distribution function.The meritorious students of the college were felicitated. Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, MLA Guruharsahai, was the chief guest on the occasion.

Workshop held: DAV College for Women organised a workshop on cosmetology in which Dr Jasdip Singh, who was the resource person, delivered lecture on various issues related to cosmetology. Dr Pushpinder Walia, principal, said such courses enable the students to become self-employed. In the workshop, more than hundred college girls were present.

Trauma branch: There is a road accident every three minutes and a death every six minutes in India, said Prof Jyotsna Wig, head of anaesthesia and intensive care department, PGI, while inaugurating the city branch of the International Trauma Anaesthesia and Critical Care Society (ITACCS) at Hotel Shivalikview here today. Also called the “Trauma Care International”, the society came into being in 1988 and has branches in 40 countries with over 2,500 members. 

MoU signed: The Desh Bhagat Group of Colleges has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Medicine Hat College, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, for academic cooperation. Group chairman Zora Singh said there were plans of student as well as faculty exchange in addition to academic support and student enrolment.

Assembly on March 5
: Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia has summoned the Vidhan Sabha to meet here at 2 pm on March 5. The budget session of the Assembly will open with an address to the members by Pahadia. 

Turmeric processing plant: In deference to the demand of the turmeric growers of the area, Hafed has set up a 14-metric-tonne-a-day turmeric processing plant at Radaur in Yamunanagar district at a cost of Rs 1.64 crore. This would enable the farmers of the district and the surrounding areas, to sell raw turmeric to the plant, and also get remunerative prices for their produce, an official spokesman said here recently.

3 thieves held
: The CIA branch of the district police has arrested three motorcycle-borne miscreants allegedly involved in committing burglaries. The police has also recovered two stolen motorcycles and got a two-day police remand for the accused to facilitate recovery of articles stolen from a shop at Dogran gate here. SSP Sandeep Khirwar said here on Tuesday the accused were identified as Anil Kumar of Teli Khera in Jind, Monu of Ujhana in Jind and Bittu of Shergarh. The accused also confessed of stealing goods from a shop at Dogran gate here.

Kurukshetra SP
: Sultan Singh, Superintendent of Police, state crime branch, Panchkula, took over as the new Superintendent of Police here on Thursday in place of KV Ramana, who has been transferred to Rewari as such.

Last date extended: The Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), Kurukshetra University, has extended the last date for receipt of admission form complete in all respects with late fee for all courses (except BEd) up to February 26. Stating this to mediapersons here on Wednesday, DDE Director MP Mathur said the late fee for undergraduate courses was Rs 3,300 and postgraduate courses was Rs 2,700.

Pension darbar
: The Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL) has decided to hold pension darbar to address the grievances of pensioners at the new conference hall at the Panipat Thermal Power Station (PTPS) on February 2 from 10.30 am onwards. The venue of will be organised by the office of the director finance.
