Trauma branch: There is a road accident every three minutes and a death every six minutes in India, said Prof Jyotsna Wig, head of anaesthesia and intensive care department, PGI, while inaugurating the city branch of the International Trauma Anaesthesia and Critical Care Society (ITACCS) at Hotel Shivalikview here today. Also called the “Trauma Care International”, the society came into being in 1988 and has branches in 40 countries with over 2,500 members.

Turmeric processing plant: In deference to the demand of the turmeric growers of the area, Hafed has set up a 14-metric-tonne-a-day turmeric processing plant at Radaur in Yamunanagar district at a cost of Rs 1.64
crore. This would enable the farmers of the district and the surrounding areas, to sell raw turmeric to the plant, and also get remunerative prices for their produce, an official spokesman said here recently.

3 thieves held: The CIA branch of the district police has arrested three motorcycle-borne miscreants allegedly involved in committing burglaries. The police has also recovered two stolen motorcycles and got a two-day police remand for the accused to facilitate recovery of articles stolen from a shop at Dogran gate here. SSP Sandeep Khirwar said here on Tuesday the accused were identified as Anil Kumar of Teli Khera in
Jind, Monu of Ujhana in Jind and Bittu of Shergarh. The accused also confessed of stealing goods from a shop at Dogran gate here.

Kurukshetra SP: Sultan Singh, Superintendent of Police, state crime branch, Panchkula, took over as the new Superintendent of Police here on Thursday in place of KV Ramana, who has been transferred to Rewari as such.
Last date extended: The Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), Kurukshetra University, has extended the last date for receipt of admission form complete in all respects with late fee for all courses (except BEd) up to February 26. Stating this to mediapersons here on Wednesday, DDE Director MP Mathur said the late fee for undergraduate courses was Rs 3,300 and postgraduate courses was Rs 2,700.
