PU to allot hostel rooms only during admission

In a major change in hostel accommodation regulations, Panjab University will now allot hostel rooms to students only at the time of admission in the upcoming academic session beginning July-August 2010. With a view to streamline the process and after having experimented with other procedures in the past, the university administration resolved to discontinue the practice of assigning rooms throughout the year.

Woman arrested for duping three youths

The police today arrested Shilpa Aggarwal for duping three youths of Rs 6 lakh for sending them to Canada in search of greener pastures. Shilpa, a resident of Sector 37, had been absconding since 2008, after the police had registered a case against her in the same year for arranging fake visa documents, on the complaint of the three youths.
