Blinded by love, Prabhdeep dared to enter the house of his beloved, knowing little that he would not be able to see again.
The world of parents’ came crashing down today when doctors told them that their son’s condition was critical and if he survived, he might not be able to see again.
On life support system, Prabhdeep is in coma after the girl’s father, Gurvinder Singh, shot him in the neck.

Project for sterilisation of dogs fails to take off

The project for the sterilisation of stray dogs in the city, which was to get under way today, has been put on hold for the time being on account of the failure of the
Amritsar-based firm, Doggie Lane, to obtain mandatory registration from the Animal Welfare Board of the Central government under the relevant law.
PAU convocation: Girls outshine boys

It was a “Women's day” at the annual convocation of Punjab Agriculture University
(PAU) here today as members of the fair sex walked away with maximum
honours. Considering the dominant presence of girls in the toppers' list, chief guest Dr MS Swaminathan said: ‘‘We are glad that girls have walked with most medals.’’
The PAU awarded 355 degrees, 64 merit certificates, 12 gold medals, five awards and a plaque.

VC comes to rescue
The Vice-Chancellor today saved three students from disappointment, when he passed their names to the announcer, who expressed her
helplessness at not being able to find names in the list. Sensing the goof up within a few
seconds, the Vice-Chancellor walked to the announcer and gave her the names
after reading them from the degrees. The students were happy to receive the degrees.

Paddy still not lifted from Khamano Mandi

Offices of the PSEB wore a deserted look as clerical and technical cadres of the board observed a strike here today against wage anomalies and policies of
privatisation. Power supply remained largely unaffected, but residents had to face inconvenience as the rectification of faults took hours and the cash counters were closed. The suvidha centre in the zonal office of the PSEB was also closed.
