It appears the need for setting up public conveniences in the city, which are clean besides being convenient, does not carry much significance for the municipal corporation. Even though the civic body should have been constructing more such facilities, work on many of those that had been planned has yet to commence.

Rs 32.4 lakh fine imposed on defaulters
Ludhiana, January 15
In a major operation covering three towns of Malerkotla, Dhuri and Sherpur, over one dozen teams of enforcement officials of the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB), drawn from four districts, carried out spot inspection of some 119 industrial and commercial establishments as well as residential premises yesterday and detected as many as 34 cases of theft and unauthorised use of electricity.
