Primary students go without midday meals

Thousands of students of about a hundred government primary schools in Dehlon Blocks I and II were forced to remain hungry in the New Year after school authorities expressed their inability to provide them the obligatory midday meals. Even though there were enough materials to prepare the meals the authorities said they had not received funds to pay wages to the cooks.

Potato with ‘Allah’ inscribed

In an unusual incident reported today the names of Allah and Mohammed were seen on a sliced potato, which was shown to the public at a press conference called here by the Shahi Imam of Punjab. He said one of the ‘namazis’ at the mosque noticed the names inscribed on the potato. "It’s a miracle of God," he remarked.

Man injured in assault dies

A man who was thrashed a few days back by a group of assailants died here today.
The deceased has been identified as Vicky (40), a resident of Joginder
