Banker’s Murder: Role of police under scanner

The story of the city police behind cracking of banker Pran Ranjan Sinha murder case has come under a scanner with the Sinha family refusing to accept a gold bangle and a ring, claimed to be belonging to Pran by the police yesterday.
MC removes 235 encroachments

The town-planning wing of the Municipal Corporation demolished structured near the Jalandhar bypass here today. Giving details, STP TS Tulli said: “The drive began from the Jalandhar bypass and covered the Rahoan Road. We removed about 235 encroachments that were beyond building line and were marked by the inspectors and draftsman during the drive.”

Former SSP, 14 others booked for fraud

The city police has registered a case of fraud against a retired SSP and 14 others, which includes two city-based liquor barons, for allegedly grabbing a prime land belonging to an NRI worth Rs 9 core situated on the Malhar Road.
