Trials on Dec 12: Trials for the 34th National Championship to be held in Hyderabad will be conducted at Arya Samaj Mandir, Sector 22-A, on December 12 at 11 am. The championship will begin from January 9. The trials will be conducted for U-11, U-14, U-17, U-21 and U-25 categories.

Quack arrested: The police arrested a quack from Sector 8 here today. The accused, identified as Mohinder Gupta, had been running an ayurvedic clinic for 22 years, allegedly without any medical certificate. A case under Section 420 of the IPC and the Ayurvedic Act has been registered against him.

Rs 1 cr donated: Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL) yesterday donated a sum of Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister’s relief fund. Chairman-cum-managing director HK Sharma today presented the cheque to Chief Minister PK Dhumal here yesterday. Lauding the generosity shown by SJVNL, Dhumal said donating the money for the cause was a genuine gesture towards the humanity. Dhumal appealed to people to make liberal contributions towards the 
relief fund.

PM’s employment package ‘a joke’: The Supreme Council of the Panun Kashmir has called the employment policy as mockery. Members of the Panun Kashmir under the chairmanship of Dr. Agnishekhar on Wednesday held a meeting to observe International Human Rights Day and to discuss the delaying attitude of the government in addressing the issues of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community. They said the Prime Minister’s employment package for the Kashmiri Pandit youth was nothing but a crude joke and the recently announced employment policy by the state government was a farce.
