Bathinda, August 1
Narinder Mittal, expelled chief of the Bathinda (urban) unit of the BJP, today said that his expulsion was contrary to the constitution and rules of the party and has sought intervention of the BJP president Rajnath Singh and L.K.Advani.

In a letter to the state unit chief of the BJP, Rajinder Bhandari, copies of which he released to media, Mittal has said that his expulsion was in contravention of the rule 25(6) of the constitution of the party.

He said that his expulsion was announced even before seeking explanation from him that was mandatory under the constitution and rules of the BJP.

He has described his expulsion as a "conspiracy" against him and he claimed this was done in retaliation to the allegations of corruption, indiscipline and groupism being encouraged by a particular section of the party leadership.

Expulsion of Mittal for a period of six years was announced by the BJP general secretary Kamal Sharma at a function here on July 22 for installation of the newly appointed chairman of the Bathinda Improvement Trust Ashok Bharti.

Mittal had opposed his appointment and gone to the venue of the function with a begging bowl. Balramji Dass Tandon, a senior BJP leader, was present in the function.

However, the formal show- cause notice was sent to him on July 25 to explain why he should not be expelled from the party for six years.

Mittal has claimed that he was not liable for disciplinary action as he did not indulge in indiscipline. The party leaders should have followed the constitution and rules of the BJP before taking any action against him, he claimed.
