Winter tourism in freeze

After global meltdown and Mumbai terror attacks, it is now the lack of snowfall that has rattled the tourism industry of Uttarakhand. Revenues of tourism-based businesses have plummeted drastically with estimates suggesting a fall of nearly 35 per cent in hotel occupancy this winter.

All set to halt road deaths
Dehradun, January 20
Taking a serious view of the increasing road accidents in the state, transport department secretary Uma Kant Pawar has shot off letters to district magistrates of various districts, directing them to complete magisterial probes into accidents during the past two years.
