MC contractor blacklisted
Two officials suspended

The local bodies department today blacklisted a municipal corporation contractor and suspended two of its Zone C officials for trying to influence a team of scientists for giving a favourable report.

Notices to SE, assistant town planner
Ludhiana, December 15
Taking strict action against erring officials who failed to comply with the directions,municipal commissioner G.S. Ghuman has issued show cause notices to SE (O & M) K.S. Dhillon and ATP Harpreet Singh Ghai for failing to meet the deadlines. According to information, the municipal commissioner had issued a letter dated December 10 (copy of which is with The Tribune) and had given five-day time to municipal officials of various branches for sending a certificate that no court case is pending against their department.

11 trains cancelled due to fog

The railways has cancelled 9771 up/9772 down Amritsar-Jaipur Express and 10 other mail and express trains from December 15 to 31 in view of the fog prevailing in the region. The biweekly Amritsar-Jaipur Express runs from Amritsar on Tuesday and Thursday and from Jaipur on Thursday and Saturday.

Subedar Balwant Singh cremated 
Raikot, December 15
Subedar Balwant Singh of Nathowal village near here was cremated with full military honours at the village crematorium. He had died on the night of December 12 when he was on patrol duty at the Rajouri sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
