State on alert, says Majithia
Ludhiana, September 14
Bikram Singh Majithia, minister for information and public relations, water and sanitation, science & technology, Punjab, said in the wake of yesterday's serial bomb blasts in New Delhi, the state government was exercising full alert in Punjab and asserted that no body would be allowed to disrupt peace, harmony and mutual brotherhood at any cost.

Inhuman act: CPI

The CPI has strongly condemned serial blasts in Delhi, causing loss of precious human lives and injuring many. In a press note issued here today, the district unit of the party has made an appeal to all sections to stand united and fight back the nefarious designs of inhuman and disruptive forces.

PAU to hold kisan mela from Sept 18

The theme of this year’s kisan mela to be organised at Punjab Agricultural University from September 18 to 19 is "Save Environment- Save Punjab". Pamphlets, literature along with banners and placards will be used to spread awareness about environmental degradation among the farmers.

Rs 2.60 lakh stolen from SHO’s house

Krishan Bhadur of Nepalese origin allegedly stole Rs 2.60 lakh from the house, Sandeep Vadera, SHO, Sidhma Bait,located in Vishal Nagar, Pakhowal Road. The servant was recruited only two days ago. But, the SHO had failed to verify the antecedents of Krishan Bhadur, a domestic help.

5 booked for abusing bus driver

The Khanna police has booked five persons for breaking windowpanes of a bus and abusing the bus driver. In his complaint to the police, bus driver Jagroop Singh, a resident of Nangal, alleged that five persons in a car stopped the bus when he was taking passengers to Samrala.

The police for abducting a minor girl from the Dhaba Road has booked a local resident. The accused has been identified as Mahesh Kumar, a migrant from Bihar, who allegedly abducted a 14-year-old girl from the city.

2,507 cases settled in lok adalat

Lok Adalat was held at Subdivisional Courts, Jagraon, where 2,507 cases were settled. A total of 2,844 cases were presented before various authorities of Lok Adalat. Disputes involving Rs 1.48 crore were settled.

A powerful 72 runs by Karan Goel and an equally useful contribution of 46 runs by skipper, Ankur Kakkar steered Ludhiana to a two-wicket win over Amritsar in the semifinal of the Punjab State Inter-District Cricket Tournament for the Katoch Shield which organised by the Punjab Cricket Association at the Punjab Agricultural University concluded today.

Guru Angad school lift Wushu title

Ludhiana, September 14
Guru Angad Dev Public School, Shimlapuri, lifted the fifth district Wushu championship title which was played at Ram Lal Bhasin Public School here today. Shamrock Public School won the second place, while the host Ram Lal Bhasin Public School got the third prize in the event where competitions were held according to weight categories.

12 shortlisted for bodybuilding c’ship

The Punjab Amateur Bodybuilding Association conducted trials here today at Flex Body Line, Dugri, in which 55 aspirants participated and 12 players were shortlisted for the coming 47th National Bodybuilding Championship to be held at Pune from September 24 to 28.
