Terming the denial of a claim to be unjustified, the district consumer disputes redressal forum has ordered the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) to pay Rs 5 lakh to a woman along with 9 per cent per annum interest. Her husband had died of brain haemorrhage.

Youth found murdered

A youth was murdered at Jhorran village, near Raikot, today. Ravinder Singh (27) is suspected to have been strangled. His body was spotted by some passersby about 100 yards away from his house around 6 am.

No connections to illegal colonies, says PSEB

The Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) will not provide power connections in unapproved or unauthorised residential colonies in keeping with a policy decision of the state government in this regard. Not only this, if such power connections had already been given through oversight or other reasons, these could be withdrawn as well. This was stated by member (Operations) of the board while addressing a news conference here yesterday evening.

Punjab baseball teams announced
