No stopping underage driving

Awareness camp to inculcate traffic sense among residents

A traffic awareness campaign by the Jaycees of Ludhiana was flagged off by Superintendent of police (traffic) Roopinder Singh at Bhai Bala chowk here today.
Under the programme, the Jaycees would be holding camps at various important intersections of the city, trying to inculcate a traffic sense among the city residents. Organisers said they would be adopting Gandhigiri as a tool and tried to impart education about the traffic rules to the

City Concerns
People living in the city, slums and low-lying areas in particular, are usually faced with a battery of seasonal diseases. Stagnant water and stinking garbage are conducive for gastroenteritis, diarrhoea, skin allergies and other diseases. Revive octroi, says workers’ union

Punjab Municipal Workers’ Union president Balwant Singh Sandhu has condemned the local bodies department for its “dictatorial” attitude. In a press note issued here yesterday, union general secretary Ram Jatan Pal said a meeting of the union was held at Ferozepore on August 6 under the leadership of Sandhu. He said Sandhu had urged the Punjab government to revive “chungi” (octroi) so that civic bodies could generate income, as the 15 per cent VAT share that they were getting was not enough to meet the expenses.

Marital Discord: Man commits suicide
