Assuring of every possible help, Malone said the victims should lodge their complaints with the Indian high commissioner in Canada and consul-generals at Toronto and Vancouver.

He acknowledged the contribution of Punjabis in the economic development of Canada and said, “Since a large number of Punjabis were settled there, I am in favour of opening an office of Canadian consul-general in Punjab”.

Answering a query, he said nearly 7,000 Indian students were presently studying in Canada and it was much low as compared to the USA and Australia. He added that the Canadian government was providing work permit to the students to attract them.
