We can’t do away with ‘black list’: PM

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has categorically told the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh that the central government cannot completely do away with the “black list” of Sikhs amid reports that radical Sikhs in Punjab were still receiving funds from foreign countries, which may lead to the revival of militancy in the state.

Devotees throng the Guru Manyo Granth Jagriti Yatra in Mohali on Monday. The Guru Manyo Granth Jagriti Yatra entered Punjab today to a rousing reception. However, a 2-hour delay of the yatra forced Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to leave before he could receive the yatra.

Agreement signed for development of medical institutes

An agreement was signed today between the Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation (HSCC), a Government of India enterprise, and the Punjab government for providing consultancy for the construction of buildings in Government Guru Ram Dass Medical College and Hospital Complex Amritsar and the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, here at Punjab Bhawan.
